M3 sedan v 02 Carerra yesterday on the highway

I'm enjoying my 1st Saturday with my newly delivered base model M3 sedan (Silver on black cloth and paid 53700) yesterday. I woke up at 7am and hit the road. I'm heading from Chicago (downtown) down the highway toward the burbs. I notice a 2002 Carerra silver/red creeping up on me in the far right lane. I prepare by shifting down to 3rd at 80mph. My heart races as he "thinks he is creeping up" 3 car lengths from me he guns it and I do instantly too. The M3 jumped (as I was in POWER) and I was immediately even and then pulled slowly in front. I went to 4th before him and lost a nose during the shift but then aggresively (noises where intoxicating) pulled hard away...for good. I cut it at 130 and then pounded the brakes and felt amazing G's. Then he caught up and paid his respect with a thumbs up. Then there was the afternoon...320 miles added today.

Sweeeeet race or kill. Just be safe out there and you might want to break her in more before you run her like that again.

You are right...I felt a bit guilty after I did it. Not because I won but because it was too soon to go that hard.

Talking That was a nice story made me think I was there

I guess you had to dust him off a little and show who was boss. Just hang in there wait til the break in then it is all gravy.

how are you enjoying your base m3?

Do you think the lack of options and electronics (navi, etc) still make the m3 an exciting ride?

An m3 for 53k sounds nice, but if if ur droppin that coin, why not go that extra step?

ha ha a buddy of mine didn't have tint on the rear window but he had the power sunshade. Whenever anyone tailgated him he would put up the sunshade and it said, "GET THE FUCK OFF MY ASS"

maybe you should do the same

The reason for the base model? 3 weeks prior a Tiffany engagement ring was purchased. But the base is still great. I just added the alarm today and getting ready for the 1200 mile service. It is rock solid and the noises are amazing. Even with no options, it still has the POWER button...

bmw will void your warranty, if you broke your engine, because you did not did the right brake in.

Yeah, I don't think the engine is broken. One 7500 rpm run with 750 miles will not "break" the engine. Have a little faith in the M divison.
