Noon question - Should I track the car with 2900 miles left till my next oil change?

I recently got my turbo swapped out with a brand new one, a new actuator, a new cooling system with flush, but the only thing I'm concerned is tracking the car with my oil nearing its change (says 2900 till next service). I personally don't even like that the service interval is every 15,000 miles but who knows. I plan on going to auto club speedway in Fontana, CA tomorrow but I just need everyone's opinion on this regarding if it will damage my vehicle. My car is currently at 95k miles.

It couldn't hurt to do an oil change prior to going to the track. Based on your signature block, it appears you have some powertrain mods and are using the 15,000 mile oil change interval.

Out of curiosity, why did you get your turbo replaced? Was the original turbo failing?

You do have a decent number of miles on the car.

That's what I was thinking of doing.

I guess the shop foreman recommended the tech to replace the turbo since they saw it was failing i'm guessing from what I read on the R.O. Which I thought was pretty cool since I went in with a drivetrain malfunction for the actuator. I also told them about my coolant being at minimum and turned out a hose was leaking somewhere and they just ended up replacing all the hoses, the reservoir, coolant and even a flush all for free! It amazed me how good the service was.

Even BMW doesnt use a 15k interval. My dealer has always been running me at 8K though I think the current BMWNA recommendation is 10k.

I'd change it regardless of the track day and I'd also send a sample to Blackstone.

It looks like my idrive is recommending 8k oil changes as well. I thought it was because of my driving style.

That's weird. My car says 11k now that I had changed my oil and reset it.

I ended up changing it before going. Car ran pretty good actually in 110 degree weather!

Over the long term, you're definitely going to have issues with running JB4 at track events.

People get away with JB4 because they're largely doing 10-20 second pulls at WOT.

The stresses of a 20-30 min session at an HPDE is going to be far greater.

isn't it more like 10k miles and it adjusts depending on your driving habits?
my local dealership changed my f30 oil at 6800 miles for my first oil change

I actually ended up selling it!
Going to buy it later on after I buy an intercooler and other upgrades.

Bmw actually won't touch my car until it reaches at least 2000 miles for an oil change. Which I think sucks but that's the reason why I ended up doing it myself since they don't want to do it.

I drive pretty decent and track here and there but my oil interval never changed from the 15k

Mine has always been 15k but now that my 50k warranty is up, I'll be getting it done every 10k
