A-pillar / Under Dash (Passenger-side) removal for hiding wiring?
I don't see any screws holding it to the body...can I just pull it off? Assuming there is an airbag under there, correct?
Also, under the glove-box on the passenger side - is that easy to drop to hide wiring up there? It also looks like there is an airbag there. Context: Trying to run wire for the V1 (not hard-wire) Thanks |

Or just get a mirror tap. You're making a 5 minute job much more complicated than necessary.

I want the remote display down below near the shifter...and even with the mirror tap, that would still require me running cable down the a-pillar. Not sure what you mean by weather strip. I was able to tuck it behind the a-pillar without removing it with trim tool. With that said, I think I can make the install cleaner and completely hidden if I actually remove the a-pillar and the trim underneath the glove-box. Did this in my E46M3 and it was relatively easy

Do not tuck the wire down the a-pillar. If you pull the a-pillar off (there are no screws) you will see where the airbag is located and realize the wiring needs to be behind the bag (closer to the glass), zip tied to the factory harness. It takes about 15 seconds to remove the trim, just do it and avoid any potential interference with the airbag deployment.

Yes, pull the weatherstripping away along the pillar. I pull top of the pillar to release the clips then lift up and back slightly to get the bottom out of the dash. The clips often stay on the car and will need popped out and put back in the re-install. I panel tool is helpful but other tools can be used to pop these out.

Yes, just pull on it. It takes some force to get it all the way back on when you are done wiring, but I was able to do it by hand without any tools. I don't recall any sticky stuff on the door weather stripping, it was 10 months ago and I'm not as young as I used to be. The trunk has some sticky goo that gets everywhere, got it on my shirt a couple of times when installing the amp/processor/sub.
