328i will not change driving modes

Whenever I switch my car into Sport Mode or Eco Pro Mode, it automatically switches back to comfort. The car was slightly accidented before I bought it (still clean title) and after I got it repaired everything works immaculately except for the mode switching. The only problem this car has is that it is missing one tpms sensor and I'm not sure if that is causing the error. Has anyone had this problem before, or know how to fix it?

Link to the video I took on it:

Tpms fault will cause the car to automatically default comfort mode.

More than that, it will keep you from going into Sport or Sport+.

That's the point I was trying to convey - "automatically defaults to comfort" meaning it won't let you switch driving modes. Which is the problem OP is having...

Replace the TPMS and reset system. You will have your driving modes back and you won't get the silly warning every ten seconds

What are the odds I JUST had this happen to me today. I reset my TPMS and so far I haven't had the issue come up again.

Not to beat a dead horse, but it always defaults to comfort mode when you start your car. The missing TPMS won't allow you to change to Sport or Sport+. I understand that is what you were trying to say, but wasn't sure the OP would.

I'm running my car with no TPMS in any wheel, no problems switching into Eco-Pro or Sport. Perhaps there's a difference between a TPMS fault and no TPMS detected?

This. You have a TPMS warning light on. Properly inflate your tires and then try.

I'm not sure inflating the tire when it doesn't have a TPMS will help.

Hi,

I know I'm in the wrong section of the forum but I have an M140i that I bought a short time ago that has the same drive mode issue.

The car is still in comfort mode.

One difference with the 328i, I don't have an amber tire pressure light on board.

You can watch the problem in the video :

Thank you to everyone who will help me 🙏

Don't tag onto zombie threads, start your own. The first step in diagnosing any problem is to pull error codes with a code reader.
