Discovered new open area in rear seat

I just found an open area in the rear seat behind the driver. It looks like something is missing. Please see attached picture.

Does anyone have the same open space? Is this expected or did the dealer or BMW mess up something?

If something is supposed to go in there, please let me know and if you have a picture to share, that will be great.

Thanks!

Yeah, the receiving end of the belt is meant to fit down into the crack of the seat. Looks like it's just been pushed too far. The belt will be there, just all the way retracted or hooked into it's storage buckle on the rear parcel shelf.

Interesting. That looks like the LATCH system for a child's car seat, at least exactly what is in my car. But is that plastic cover above the seat belt the LATCH system? If so, when did BMW start putting LATCH in the open like that.

Mine is under the seat. I removed it to hard wire my radar detector (ran wire to trunk) and it's a PITA to get those through the holes on the seat. There's just not enough slack.

2015 320i Rear seat removal

The bench seat pops up easy, I have removed the 2 T45 bolts between the buckles. I have a fixed non lowered seat back. Looked in trunk and no screw driver entry to turn to pop the seat. I have lifted up to try to release but will not budge.....where is the other release I am missing? Thanks

Just asking...why did you run a wire to the trunk instead of running the wire to the power receptacle underneath the right side of the dash closest to the center console? It's a standalone circuit and is easy to splice into.

Because now the radar detector turns off with the ignition. Before it would stay on until it was manually turned off (with cigarette lighter cable).

Just FYI the lighter power does turn off eventually. 30 minutes from what I recall.

I don't wanna wait that long for power to turn off on my radar detector. Now it turns off within 5 seconds.

Mine turns off when the electronics turn off, and I have my car FDL coded so that the electronics shut down when the driver's door is opened. You can do the same thing with a second push of the start-stop button when shutting down the engine. Both power receptacles (the one in the console closest to the steering wheel and the one under the right side of the dash) shut off with the rest of the electronics.

So if I'm interpreting things correctly, you have a wire going directly to the positive battery terminal in the trunk and somehow turning off the ignition breaks that circuit? Not sure I follow how that works.

Negative. I have a wire going to the fuse box where the "home link" fuse is. However, it's not sharing a fuse with the home link system, it has its own 2amp fuse.
