worn leather covered under warranty?

after 2 years in my F36 the topcoat of the red leather on my driver side door has worn down (my left often rubs it while driving) and now my pants are turning red! how can i convince my dealership to correct this under warranty? my car is 2 years old, on a 39 month lease. thx for your advice!

Do you need to "convince" them? Have they denied you? They do not have to cover it if it is normal wear (unless somehow it's specifically excluded from the warranty, which I don't think is the case, because other members have reported leather replacement under the warranty). The fact that it is flaking I think strengthens the argument that it is not normal wear.

If you haven't tried to make a claim, I'd say that you really must bring it in and make a claim. Because if it's not normal wear, don't you run a risk at the end of your lease that they will ding you for it? And if they decline replacement claiming it's normal wear, at least you're home free at the end of the lease.

Looks like the area could do with a clean, give it a spray down with leather cleaner & see what it looks like after.

I got some leather repairs under warranty on my 2011 335i coupe. The sport seats were designed with a sharp edge that always rubbed when entering or exiting the car. It's been redesigned in the F3X cars.

It was a pretty common issue on the E9X series cars.

you must go to the dealer,
I had a similar issue with CR leather. the driver's seat was wearing out after a year into my lease, took it to the dealer and they were first going to just "fix" the area, when they weren't able to FIX the leather they replaced the back rest leather upholstery.
good luck.
