What is this Leather Weave Design called?
I have noticed this leather weave design in several photos of F3x cars.
It is in the leather insert pocket of the door trim panels. Also appears to be in the seats (though I would question how comfortable that would be). All have originated in the EU. It is apparently not available in USA. I have found it on BMWs that are not Individual (and some that are). What is it called? Is it popular (as I do not see it on most pictures of EU cars)? Thanks |

Not sure what the weave is called but I have it in my 440i - White Opal Merino. Part of the individual range.

Anyway, I found a 320i on the forum with the design and its VIN is shown. The VIN decoders do not show it as an Individual car. Thus, I assume it is available in non-individual cars : Do you happen to have a leather Center Console on your Individual as well? |

The last two photos look very familiar The seats are Cashmere Beige individual leather from my original 320d. The Opal White is also an individual leather too.
I thought the Dakota leather trims were smooth, no weave pattern, so I would have guessed the weave was only for the individual leather options. Of course, I could be completely mistaken

Hi,
Hope this helps..... I have this exact leather combination on my 435i (2014MY). Tanzanite Blue with Kashmir Beige upholstery. Here is the text printout from the BMW Spec. sheet on delivery. Some is in the original GERMAN. I thought for a minute that the term you're looking for to describe that double weave pattern was DOUBLE LAP SEAM but it is not since I don't have it on the headrests. The DOUBLE SEAM thing is obvious from the pictures. So.........could the WEAVE PATTERN be BRAID OPTICS....? Anyway, have a look at this...here we go: Starting from the fundamentals...... The car colour is TANSANITBLAU METALLIC (X10) The upholstery is ZAKS BMW Indiv. extended leather trim Kashmir Beige Here is the copy of the delivery spec. printout......... ---- Processing Indivdual Sign “BMW Individual” 0X10 Tanzanite Blue Paintwork “tanzanite blue-metallic” (code X10) ZAKS BMW Indiv. extended leather trim Kashmir Beige Extended leather Merino Kashmir Beige (nb. 7 983 332 / Sun Reflective Technology): Sewing thread cream beige (nb. 7 028 837), code 0760 D. Following up on this, after discussions with BMW Individual in Germany, the leather is actually called "Lederflechtstruktur”.
In English they would call it “embossed leather in braided optics”, though Google Translation calls it "Leather Braid Structure", which seems more accurate. |
