Car throwing codes 120408 120208
Hello,
I purchased a 2013 x335i "as-is" from a dealership in PA a couple days ago. I got a drivetrain malfunction error, so my buddy ended up pulling the codes below from the car. I'm not sure what causes the pressure too high condition, I think it may be a faulty pressure converter.... Any tips? E12C35 Signal (steering column switch operation, 0x1EE), invalid, transmitter SZL/JBE E06C03 Signal (steering column switch operation, 0x1EE) invalid, transmitter FEM 800B8F Side View Camera, left; maximum permissible current exceeded 030343 Steering column switch cluster (SZL), steering column turn signal indicator 120408 Charging Pressure control; switch-off as consequence 120208 Charging Pressure control, plausibility Pressure too high I think the 120408 and 120208 are the codes causing my drivetrain malfunction... I would be cruising in 6th at 80 MPH, any rev of 4-5k will enable the warning light to come on and will tell me to drive safely as maximum output power has been limited... I ordered new vacuum hoses in hopes of maybe some hose being damaged, and will see, but any thoughts? Last edited by CTNYCLurk; 06-21-2017 at 01:26 PM.. |

Your best bet is to use Rheingold to resolve this.
The cable is about 15 bucks and the software is available for download all over the internets. A bit of a learning curve to it, but once you get it up and running its 2 minutes to get it fired up and listing whats wrong with the car. Its basically what BMW would use to resolve this, including directions on what / how to replace the effected part(s). EDIT : Let me see if I can pull up what Rheingold says... Ok, so you'll probably want to get that Rheingold going on your own laptop as it will give you more details and take you step by step (including running diagnostics when available, on each component, but here is the fault action plan.
If you have your own copy of rheingold going, it will eliminate some of the possible components that are fucking up. |

Cable is any one on ebay / amazon "f30 esys cable".
For reading / diagnosing those cheap (10-15 dollar ones) are just fine. The software is availble in the DIY forum. You will want to search for "bmw coding v3" vmware image. Thats what I use, there may be something newer out right now. Depending on how fluent you are with computers, once you have: A) VMWare (to run the image) B) The BMW Coding V3 VMWare image c) The cable Set aside for 3-4 hours next to the car with laptop and a wireless connection in hand to get it connecting. Like I said, a bit of a learning curve, but once its running its a matter of plug and play + click and your good to go. EDIT : When you actually have rheingold up and running the process is alot more detailed then what I pasted above. It will do a step by step, checking each component and get you way more clarity then the 5 lines above. Last edited by anom3; 06-21-2017 at 01:47 PM.. |
