I'm in SoCal (huntington beach to be exact) but my "go-to" dealership has always been BMW of Riverside (for those of you not familiar with SoCal...its maybe 40 miles away) and my "go-to" guy for the last 16 years has been their internet/fleet manager, Chris Sharpe. In and out has always been fast but today we set a record:
  • using BMW new car locator I find a 340 I want at another BMW dealership
  • I email Chris
  • He pulls the numbers and sends me a quote
  • As always price is at or below invoice, then discounts are applied and MF is always at buyrate
  • I approve the deal via email no deposit required
  • 2 days later he has the keys in hand - the car has been traded with the other dealer
  • I Uber to Riverside today
  • Chris greets me, hands me the key and sends me to finance
  • Out of finance in about 3 mins after a couple signatures
  • Chris asks if i need to be briefed on the car - I say no, hop in and leave
  • From Uber drop off to out the door 12mins - with a screaming deal

Congrats!

Amazing though, that this is worthy of memorializing. Says a lot about how awful the experience can be.

isn't that the truth - I really felt bad for all the buyers I saw stuck at desks/sales cubicle across from their sales person "negotiating" as I simply slipped in and out with my new car at what I know is a far better deal then they would be getting

Effortless and perhaps how every deal ought to be. Congrats!

This is the kind of transaction that every dealer should aspire to!

Why is buying a car so much more difficult than buying a flat screen TV?!?

Thats great. My past 3 cars I never set foot in the dealer until the deal is done. Hammer everything out via email, followup phone call then go in and sign the papers. I don't understand how in 2017 people still cowboy up and spend the day at the car dealer getting brow beaten by the hacks on the sales floor.

Last three cars I have purchased (in the last 18 months) involved emailing my build to my dealer, 2-3 emails back and forth to negotiate pricing, then one phone call to confirm option choices. The car is then delivered at my home where I sign paperwork with the salesman while the genius programs the garage door opener and transfers over things like my presets and saved destinations.

All-in, not counting time spent speaking with other dealers for competing bids (which are never better), I've got it down to an hour per car for everything from "I want this car" to car living at my house.

If you find someone good to work with it really doesn't need to be complicated.

I did my car via TrueCar....30min and I was driving away in it. I 'probably' could have done a little better but I was happy with the outcome .

Nice job, OP!

Thanks everyone - it's a 2017 340 MG/Coral 19" 403 Wheels and very lightly optioned (which is what I wanted).

BMS 12/15 spacers went on this AM
And later today its off to the body shop - It came with port installed front diffuser but it wasn't color matched so I am having it painted gloss black, while there the rear performance diffuser and side skirt extensions will be installed and painted gloss black - I'm popping a color matched M3 style trunk lip on it. Grill is already gloss black - that'll just about do it for now expect for some very light tint and my JB+

Maybe some coding - we'll see

Did the entire build process for the 2017 340 without stepping foot in the dealership. Went there the day the car was delivered to sign the paperwork, ran errands for an hour while a runner went from the dealership to get the plates, came back and drove the car home.

Congrats for the deal and +1 for Chris Sharpe - also Michael Quinn is good there too.

I would have had a similar timeline if it wasn't for the fact I umm'd and ahh'd in finance re the cover packages as I was thinking I might do lease damage protection etc. decided not to bother - so, hopped in the car and left.

10/10 would do business again

it was at "invoice" so I think roughly 10-11% and then the $2500 incentive was taken off

Congrats. I thought my last purchase was fast (in and out like 30 min), but yours has set a new record.

Sounds like a good deal. I had to fight to get 10% off. Car was ordered though.
