Need help trying to buy a used 435i
Hey guys I'm trying to upgrade and get the car i originally wanted. I'm wondering if any of you guys were able to negotiate down a used car from a dealership. I'm trying to stick to a budget of 30k, a lot of the 435i's 2014-2015 models are going for around 34,000-36,000 with around 20-35k miles. How was your experience buying a used car? Were you able to negotiate down? If so how much?
I appreciate any help or comments, thanks. |

Of course price depends on options and if it is CPO. I did a key for key deal and 27k miles CPO with 16 months full original warranty, new tires, LED, heads up display, M brake pads/rotors, M rims, M steering wheel, etc in mint interior and good exterior they were asking 42k. A bit high yet in the end the deal was basically ok.

34-36k is about what you should expect to pay for 14-15 335i with around $34k miles. A 435 will run a bit more. I paid $34.2k for a CPO 18k mile '14 335 M-sport with everything but DAP and adaptive suspension.
Clean wholesale for 14-15 335i is $30-32k. Factor in $1-1.5k in reconditioning. Lease turn-ins are purchased by the dealer for a little more. ~$32-34k |

I just recently purchased a Certified Pre Owned 2014 335 with 19,455 miles on the clock. Maitanance package incldude till next year 06/18, CPO 06/20.
Msport Tech package Heads up display Navigation Premium package 19 403 upgraded wheels Driver assistance package Cold weather package Lighting package ( i guess its standard on 2014's 335?) $36,000 out the door - i think i got a really good deal i haven't seen anything close to this, i only wish it had Harman Kardon. |

Double check the Maintenance package; I thought it only applies to the original owner; not subsequent ownership.

Not to discourage you, but there is no way you'll be able to pick up a 435 for $30K. It's a highly desirable car so unless it's value has been diminished by an accident, has high mileages, or is considerably beaten up, you'll have to come up in your budget.
I slightly overpaid for my 335 but it was substantially optioned with 2yrs and 26K miles left on OEM warranty and maintenance. |

That's right. Since 2015, the 4-years free maintenance program is only applied to original owner, and is not transferable. Same for the 3-year maintenance program now.

Since BMW had released the 440i the prices for the 435 are dropping increasely downwards. At your place I would wait until the years comming to the end and then check the lists again, you would maybe catch a well equipped post-LCI for an equal price and then its worth the effords.

Hello, F30Rez. My car appears to be above your budget, but I own a 2015 435i coupe you may be interested in that I ordered new. Quick history; owned a 2000 E46 with a manual transmission that I sold after I ordered a 2007 C6 Corvette. The C6 was wonderful but the interior quality was really disappointing. I decided to return to the BMW fold and purchased a 2008 335i coupe in the summer of 2009. It was a fun car, but the HPFP's were a pain in the ass to deal with. At any rate, in the summer of 2014, while my 335 was being serviced, a client advisor offered me a test drive in a new 435i coupe equipped with a manual transmission. Loved it! Wife does not/will not drive a stick... As a result, in July 2014 we ordered a 435i coupe with the eight-speed transmission. It was built in September 2014 and delivered in October 2014. I did not load it up with options as we have no need nor expense desired for NAV, cameras, self-parking, window shades, etc...The car was carefully broken in, has lived in a heated/cooled garage, and has been dealer maintained with 9700 miles on the clock. Imperial Blue with Oyster leather, Sport Line, 19" alloy wheels, Cold Weather Package, Premium Package, Harman Kardon surround sound, and beautiful COCO Mats. Adult driven, no kids, smoke, food, animals, or any other contaminants ever allowed in the car. No dings, never driven in snow, and is all stock with no modifications. Manufacturer warranty expires November 2018. N55 is a proven platform. No bugs to work out... Selling to buy a C7 before the V8's and manuals disappear!!! $39,000 firm. BTW - I recently retired so my wife's transmission choices are of no concern. She is happy with her X3.

I would wait. Currently seems only 435s listed online for under $30K have over 50K miles. Everything else in your mileage range is around the $33K mark. Just did a quick search on cars.com but you could look a bit deeper into it I'm sure.

Last little bit of the factory warranty so I'll have to shop for that soon. When you factor that in I guess you'd be back up to about the $34-36 range... |

CPO is definitely the way to go. Picked up my '15 435i M-Sport/MPPK/MPE recently with less than 20k miles. Original MSRP was 73,800 (pretty much fully loaded with a bunch of M Performance goodies), listed at 47k, was able to negotiate down to around 41k with shipping. Also did a trade in for around 15k which helped, lol.
Dealer was a hassle and told a bunch of false information about the warranty and maintenance costs, so I ended up getting free maintenance for the next two years, and warranty until late 2020. Overall, very happy with the purchase, and I'm glad to have the piece of mind that I won't break my wallet trying to pay for repairs. |
