Squeeky e-brake - Solutions?
Anyone DIY'ed a fix for a squeeing emergency / parking brake?
Fairly straight forward, always reproducable issue: When the parking brake is on and I rock the car back and forth there is a fairly loud squeeking noise from what sounds like the rear drivers side wheel. Always happens and it even happens as I exit the vehicle. Anyone DIY'ed a fix for this? |

It's been a feature on all the 3 series I've driven, from e46 until now, it hasn't started on my F32 yet though.
Quick google yeilded this. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=697365 I can't imagine that there's much change, since the google search brings back pages from most BMW series with people having the same noise.

I don't know about DIY but I constantly had this issue on my msport brakes. Took it to dealer many times and they always clean/scrape the pads and apply some lube and it used to work fine for few months and then again the issue. Finally after 2-3 service visits they replaced front pads/rotars (they were almost 3mm even though car indicator showed 30K miles left) and then few months later they replaced the rear pads (4mm but as per car service reminder 60K miles left). Now no more problems for last 3 months but I am sure it is going to come back again in few months

Nature of the shoes rocking around the anchor clearance and being held against the back plate, need some brake paste lubrication. |
