C63 Availability

I just got back from my Mercedes Dealer here in Portland to look at the C63. They said that they wouldn't have one in their inventory until MY 2010! Is this just because of limited production? They are sold out in 2008 and 2009 here.

Wow--that is surpising that Rasmussen wuld be that booked for a car that sucks wind compared to the M3 IMO. BTW, I own an M-B as well.

That is Rasmussen. Maybe they're not promoting the Rasmussen name any more.

Oh, sorry I was thinking of Wilsonville Mercedes, I forgot that both dealers were Rasmussen. You're right, they're definitely not promoting the Rasmussen name that much.

I guess if you decide to get a Merc instead of a BMW, they win either way!

AMG is just not making very many C63s. My local dealership is only getting three 2008 cars and tenatively only 3 2009 cars, they have one 2009 car available for delivery later this year, likely in the early Fall. The GM told me that the performance package P30 is available for 2009 onward, LSD supposedly. Still getting my E90 M3.

wow, i've seen all the c63 stuff on this forum, but never realized how limited the production will be. that will undoubtedly result in lots of markups that will put some of the ones that we saw on the m3 to shame. i'm thinking socal here...

yeah this C63 is not something they stock locally and take a massive discount at the end of the year like its been done before. The ones coming in are the ones already ordered few months ago and those are the only ones to be shown unfortunately. The car is very rich inside to include the exhaust sound, just not feeling the mpg and report hard ride and handling. But sure is a competitor

I find them just about the same cost as the fairly equipped e92, but the Performance Package (LSD and Limiter removed(move to 186 MPH) available on 09s for about $3400 will put this I think a liitle over the e92. I hate the MPG 12/19 and the $2600 gas guzzler, w/ no service/maint include. Cost of owener will be alot more than the e92, so M3 owners can breathe alot better.

heres a sample MSRP w/ the must haves (no PP)
Merc is not known to have alot of after market like the BMWs, and most leave it as is

No matter how 'limited' the production cycle is, and this is the first I've heard of it, it will still drop like a rock in value...

maybe the US (dollar) is not as nice as it used to be.

I do agree with (at least for me) that BMW was no-waiting. That could be a problem at resale if they make a ton of M3s but it's great for buying.

I ordered 35 days ago DCT and my car is built already.

I was thinking about the GTR but they only are bringing 1500 the first year in the US (M3 maybe 10K ?) so it's easy to see the M3 is not as hard to get ahold of.

I don't care particularly for the C63 would prefer the M3 (coupe and DCT) but it's also nice not having to wait a year or more.

That gauge is deceiving, it says 6.3-V8. That had to put that dash in there so they wouldn't get sued I suppose...

I am seriously considering it!

Will try to test drive this week.

Gawd knows, I'm a classic "torque dork"

The C63 is to the Vette what the M3 is to the 911.

I've owned a Vette and while I didn't identify with most of my fellow owners, they are nice people and I have made a few lifelong friends in the Vette crowd. I didn't care about the crap interior. Yeah, it was plastic, it was American, but I was just a sucker for that rowdy engine and power. If I drive the C63 and I like it, there is a strong chance...... I don't see myself in a Benz, but, I don't like to think I'd buy a car for its image, or lack of an image I like. I try to buy the car that makes me feel great when I drive it!

OK enough rambling.....

C63 E-Mail

So, I [B]finally[B] got some answers. The day I went to see the C63, I sent an e-mail to the sales staff to see if they actually had one. They didn't reply until today so I ended up just going the day that I posted this thread.

Here's what they said:

Quote:
Thank your for your interest in the new Mercedes Benz C63 AMG. As you are probably aware, the AMG is a very special and extremely limited production machine in any variant. Waiting lists can be as long as two years in many cases from order to delivery. Our first (and only) 2008 C63 is scheduled to be completed at the factory in Affalterbach on 5/13 and we expect it to arrive here in Portland late June. I have enclosed the specification sheet for your reference. Please contact me mid-June if you would like to schedule an appointment to view this machine in person. Unfortunately, this one was sold with deposit order over a year ago and the buyer is very anxious to get his hands on it. 2009 production starts last week of June and we will be allocated ONE build slot per month as it now stands. Our first three 2009's are spoken for but you stand a very good chance to acquire a 2009 if you move to secure one soon.
So that's why they have such a wait period, they only have ONE for 2008!!! And they also have some 2009 allocations left over, so the salesman was exaggerating a little with the ONLY 2010 thing.

Oh and if anyone is interested, they included another build sheet for the C63:

Quote:
2008 C63 AMG $53,800
755 Steel Grey $710
201 Black Leather
P02 P02 Premium Package: $1,080
540 : Power Rear-Window Sunshade
600 : Headlamp Washing System
614 : Bi-Xenon Headlamps
619 : Cornering Fog Lamps
057 iPod Integration Kit $375
318 318 AMG Leather Package: AMG Premium Lea $2,950
242 : Power Passenger Seat w/Memory
275 : Power Dr.Seat & Steering Col. w/ Memory
320 320 Multimedia Package: 7-inch Power Ret $2,950
396 : Voice Control
512 : COMAND Navigation System with 6-Disc CD/
810 : Harman/Kardon Sound System
739 Aluminum Trim

SUBTOTAL $61,865
DESTINATION & DELIVERY $825
GAS GUZZLER $2,100
TOTAL $64,790
The only other bummer was that even if you drive up in a brand new M3, the sales team isn't anxious to talk to you... We actually had to approach them to ask them if they had the car there...
