SOS Malfunction Warning

2017 M2 European delivery Nov 2016. Threw me two SOS malfunction warnings in last month. Getting serviced today and taking them more than the whole day to fix what they say is just a software problem. They say there was a bulletin on the issue and not limited to M2. Thoughts?

This has come up a couple of times. They're probably going to have to replace the comm box - apparently there was a bad batch. Mine started with SOS errors, then I started to have other stuff get weird, like turn signals. Basically anything that routes through that box can get funky. Once they replaced it everything was fine.

I picked my car up at the same time as you, so it stands to reason you might have the same bad box. And no, it wasn't limited to the M2, it could be any car that uses the same comm box.

Yup. They are replacing the telematics unit. Hopefully I can pick it up tonight. Driving a 430 as my loaner. It's quite the fat pig of a GT.

You're lucky it took this long to show up. Mine must have been one of the earliest to show the fault and they didn't have any spares. Had to wait about a month until they came in. Those warnings get really annoying after a while.

Wiretap?

Got my car back yesterday. Noticed this morning that my radar detector which I have wire tapped into the mirror was momentarily loosing power. I checked the tap connection tonight and they seemed fine. Any possibility the telematics unit replacement created this problem? It was 100% fine for 6 months. So annoyed.

Im having the same issue. GPS is acting crazy, bc button on steering wheel doesn’t work and the call malfunction error came up. I changed the battery on top of the telecom box in the trunk but error persists, ive seen some posts about another commbox in the headliner, anyone know which box is it in our m2?
