2014 435i questions
Hi everyone, I'm about to be a first time BMW owner and I just had some questions before I make the purchase. These questions are about reliability and maintenance issues on the 2014 435i 6MT. For all the owners out there, have you had any major engine problems on your vehicle? If you did, how many miles were on the car when the problems occurred? Will this car always be in the shop for mechanical/engine problems as the car gets older with higher mileage? I plan on getting the Route 66 warranty through PenFed to help with any major problems in the future. Any insight will he helpful. Thanks.

I got my 2014 435i (with 8 speed auto) late in 2013. I have had no issues at all. If you are reading the forums and freaking out about all the issues you are seeing posted, just remember that the people with issues will post about their problems, but, for the most part, people don't post about not having any problems, so there will always be an imbalance toward problems.

I have had my '14 335i since new and now at 25k miles. Had a problem with the transmission (8AT) from day 1...laggy low gear upshifts...but was taken care of early on.
Since then, not one single problem. Others complain of squeaks or noises, but I have had none of that either. If you're getting the warranty, why worry? 435i 6MT is a great car, you'll love it! |

Not sure about the MT, yet the auto 435i has a great reputation for reliability. That's what had me choose the CPO 2014 435i AT a few months back. Been good so far.

Per the service dept at my local BMW dealer, the 4 series is one of the more dependable series sold. I haven't had any issues with my car (knock on wood).

I bought my 2014 435xi 8AT about a year ago and no major issues so far with 42k miles. The dealer did replace my fuel pump last time I took it in for service (oil change) due to a recall.
The only outstanding minor issue I have is with the door locks occasionally not unlocking when opening the door. Since the dealer was unable to reproduce last time I was there, I will be taking this in for repair under warranty this fall/winter as it does happen more often when it's cold. Overall very happy with the car |
