Auto dimming door mirror glass
Some idiot smashed my driver’s door mirror, it's auto dimming so I know they want stupid money for a replacement, is it possible to just fit a normal mirror glass? Or have they somehow managed to make it so it needs coding? The passenger side mirror has normal glass, sods law the expensive side gets smashed

Sorry to hear that can't answer your question 100% but I thought it was a genuine one that was needed?
If you had a pre LCI they are both dimming so both expensive!! |

No need for coding.
You sometimes see them cheap on eBay for around 60-80 quid. Still a lot for some glass but cheaper than the £250 or more that BMW charge.

I think you'll find that an auto dimming mirror glass is £320 from BMW....I know having smashed mine within an hour of collecting my brand new car!
Let me have a dig around as Daftasabrush came up with a good Ebay alternative...

I have replaced an F10 dimming glass for £70-80 on ebay I think it was. Where the sellers source these from is another question. Perhaps they are all from the scrapyard, but I couldn't help worrying that I might be paying some guy who had prised one off a car on the street.

Just had a look on ebay, there are a few there but I'm sure the wiring connectors are different, I'll have to pull what’s left of mine off again and have a closer look, thanks for the replies.
