Different tyres on front and rear axle

Hi

I have suffered the dreaded sidewall bulge so I am thinking to replace the fronts with none runflat and leave the rears runflat until they either suffer the bulge or wear out.
The rears are eagle f1 asymmetric 2

I am thinking mid range go flats for the fronts so have the following, I know the ultimate are the Michelin but out of my price range for now

So I have the following
Vredestein Ultrac Vorti
Hankook ventus s1 evo2
Falken FK510

I think the above tyres are offer good value vs performance but am I ok having the rear axle with different brand (rear tyres 6.5mm tread)
Thanks

Sully

I had NRFT on the rear only, whilst waiting for the fronts to wear out. No issues to report, but I doubt you will get many on here that agree that it is a good idea.

Can't help you with the which tyre, I would just go Michelin, they can't be that much more?

The tyres listed are ~130 each where the michelins are 200 each so an extra 140.
Could do with not having to spend anything at the moment

I also had RFT on the front and non RFT on the rears of my E90 waiting for the fronts to wear out prior to changing them for at least six months. I had no issues and it drove great and put on another 8-9k on them prior to changing over.

No problems regarding mixing rft & non rft on different axles.

I'd say the Hankooks, they're actually supplied from factory on some BMW's, Audi's & Mercs!

I might get Hankooks next time if they are £140 less per pair!

Just checked on Oponeo and it's only £92 difference. Also worth noting that they wear much quicker than PS4S so most of that saving is actually false economy in the long run.

Ordered the falken's as I had these on my previous car and found they did well in terms of performance and wear rate

There's not many reviews of them on tyrereviews yet, but the few that there are do seem to show good wear rates!

They were included in a recent auto express review and came 7th and I am not a rally driver so I am sure they will be perfectly fine.
What pains me more is a tyre costing more can fail so early on in its life, this is the first time I have ever had to replace a tyre early with only 10k miles on it

Just the one. Replacing the other one tomorrow. It was a black circles job and their mark up can be quite high - needed it urgently.

The other one is costing £143 fitted via local independent garage. So the same on one axle.
