Press start button unintentionally when driving

Anyone know what would happen?

Just watched a random video with an American guy in a Ford and when he pressed the start button at less than 5mph then the car shut off, he then tried it at approx 50mph and the car didn't shut off, he then held the button at the same speed for 3 seconds and the ignition turns off and he brings the car to a safe stop.

Bearing in mind that the start/stop button is directly above the start button on our cars (and could be easily pressed accidentally) what happens on the F30?

Anyone know? (By the way, please don't try this just to get the answer)!

I did it accidentally in my 335d, turns the engine off and the autobox automatically went into neutral, this was at 15-20mph. Was fine.

Press it once and it does nothing. Press it twice quickly or press and hold and the engine will stop. This happens at any speed.

What does pressing the park button do if you're moving? I always rest my hand near it and worry about pressing it

It doesn't do anything. I did try it once, albeit at a low speed, as I also wondered the same thing.

My theory was that someone at BMW would have thought to write a bit of code to stop it going into park while driving along as there would be at least one idiot to give it a go

Edit - beaten to it.

Exactly this - nothing. Even if you have the brakes applied (while moving at speed)

Same if you try to put it in Reverse (with or without brakes applied at speed)

I tried this on a loan car once in the interest of Science ......

I've done this a few times when I first got the car when trying to switch auto stop start off. Didn't do anything.
