dealer help??
Hi All,
I have given my 335d m sport 2017 to the dealer because when I accelerate I can feel the engine vibration through the steering wheel? Has anyone else had this problem? The dealer has said they have compared it to another 335 d and it is the same. We have another 335d in the house and it drives totally differently. They advised there is nothing wrong with the car. Please could you let me know if the dealer is fobbing me off? When driving in comfort sometimes the steering feels hard. Also I have folding mirrors and sometimes get a rattle going over bumps and when closing the door can hear a little rattle but dealer says its normal. Please can someone advise or am I just going crazy? thanks Ricky |

Maybe ask an independent garage to drive it and see what they think?

Vibration through the steering wheel......could it be balancing or alignment?
I've had cars out of the factory that have been very poorly set up, so now, I always get the cars alignment done in the first few weeks of ownership to reassure me it's all set up correctly. Worth looking into I'd say. |

The only vibration through the steering wheel I get from my 420d is from the LDW.
The car has a bit of a wobble when starting or shutting down the engine, but that's it.

Or, go to anther dealer. I've just posted this in another thread : I had a fault with the IDrive and locations not being sent. Dearler A told me You have not logged in properly to your connected drive account and basically fobbed me off. Dealer B took 6 weeks but correctly diagnosed the fault, replaced the part and explained and spoke to me like a human being.

If you only gets vibration through the steering wheel during acceleration then I would initially look at the front CV joints, the vibration should disappear almost entirely if you lift off completely. Can also manifest itself as a clicking sound when on full steering lock from the affected side.
If it varies by speed, independent of throttle position, then I'd look at wheel balancing/damage to tyres/front wheels. |
