Rear-ended

Travelling back from work on Friday, traffic in front comes to a stop. Look in rear-view mirror to see a 130i bowling along, oblivious to the fact that everyone else is stationary. Luckily he realised and started to brake, but way too late. Car now off the road for three weeks!!

Happily SytnerDrive sorting it all out, just waiting for a replacement car.

I would have blurred out my reg, if you sell car it may put people off

Hope you claimed directly through his insurance rather than phoning your own

If you claim directly though him and don't involve your own you can keep hush about the accident when you come to re-new

But his insurance company will be informing your insurance company - and will be placing the details of the payout on the insurance database.

So when you 'keep hush', you're committing the criminal offence of insurance fraud. Which (in the event of any future claim by yourself or you changing provider) will come to light, will then lead to your policy being cancelled, and you having to declare such cancellation for several years, costing you a fortune due to your dishonesty.

Yup, sounds like a genius idea !

It's an Alphadrive car, so it just goes back at the end of the contract, happily :-)

Yes indeed. Amazingly so with the speed of impact. The hearse stood up really well to the impact (tailgate still opens and closes!!), the 130i considerably less so!!! (Undriveable, recovery job)

No they do not contact your insurance company

They don't even ask who youre insured with!

A record that they paid out X pounds on Y registration number, in the name of Z, will go onto the MID database.

If you believe otherwise, then feel free to continue fooling yourself.

Agree with. All claims through insurance go on the MID database now.

Conversation with replacement car provider:

"We've got a 320 X-drive auto Touring, will that be OK?"

"Is it a diesel?"

"No, it's petrol"

"I'd prefer a diesel!"

"OK, I've got an X5"

"Yup, that'll do"
