m235i 2016 Dyno Results

Hey Guys,

So went and had a dyno done today at one of the local tuner places.

Car is:
2016 - 235i
VRSF DP
BMS CIA
Active AutoWerke IC
JB4

Running 30% E85 rest 98.

So I didnt do a stock run and I only wanted to do E85 runs so I only did runs with Map 2 and Map 5. I was surprised to see Map 2 came out a head by only the slightest margin.

That said however I was still a little disappointed by the results.
Map5 - 249 KW
Map2 - 251.4 KW

I was really expecting to hit somewhere around 265+ with the mods I have coupled with the E85. I was told however this particular Dyno does read 10% lower then most so that would place me in that range but without comparison I dont have anything to really go by. Further to this the guy at the place didnt know what gear to run it in so i suspect 3rd was what he ran, and I never got an accurate Torque readout either which is a little upsetting.

I dont have a JB4 data cable so im unable to start logging. Let me know what you think about the numbers, and potentially what could be done next time if anything.

Since you're using a different Dyno other than Dynojet, you should of done a map4 run.

- Dyno + Log = A Must
- I wouldn't be driving blindly without logging or seeing you have proper settings/adjustments and on latest firmware
- Numbers don't mean anything without a baseline
- find a Dynojet ; dyno in 4th or 5th gear u can dyno ; dsc off

~250KW is around 340whp which seems low for the fuel and mods. However, if they ran in 3rd, the numbers will be lower. Running in a gear closer to a 1:1 ratio should help push the numbers up 5% to 7% or so which would be about right (~365whp).

I am not sure that new tune necessarily means most up to date software. If distributor has jb4 in stock they are probably in storage waiting to be shipped. It may be "new" bit sitting in a box for the last couple months. New software comes out all the time. Does anyone know if jb4 are typically up to date when they ship out? I'd be curious to know.

Agreed, 11.hex was in beta for a bit before it was released recently. Its a very good possibility you are at least one update behind. you should check the firmware and invest in the rev 3 bluetooth connect dongle. Its worth every penny. The newest firmware is EWG 11.HEX. The firmware is very smooth and improved imo.
