Oil Catch can .. wtf to put it in B58
I know the BMS OCC puts itself in the air filter compartment.. but no way I'm using a BMS intake.. its suckin in all the hot engine air from proximity to the turbo and downpipe units.. whats the point.
Now looking under the hood .. I cant see but one place with room for the oil catch can .. an empty area above the turbo & downpipes all I see. Got a couple of ideas of bracket designs to try and fit it there but theyre not easy to do. Anyone figure a good place for an oil catch can in this tight engine? |

VM posted also posted a dyno showing good gains from the intake alone on B58, i believe it was 8 whp. Plus you get a very nice sound increase from it

I'm sure you get some sound improvement but HP gains are questionable.
Threads not about the intake.. though I'm sure OBD readings would show the open intake increasing IAT its next to the hotter part of the engine.. the turbo & downpipe.. unless of course the BMS intake somehow circumvents the laws of physics |

On the BMS intake, this thread has some data you might find surprising. And you can easily recreate the tests yourself using the JB4 logging which includes air intake temperatures:
http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showpo...70&postcount=1 On the BMS B58 OCC the kit includes the OCC and CNC machined fittings to attach it to the factory lines without having to cut anything. Just use their kit and relocate the OCC to another location if that is your prerogative. It's a relatively compact size. Mike |
