Should I do a full oil change now?

Hi

So, I was on the highway and the car asked for 1 liter of oil. I pulled over and the best I could find was this 17usd Mobil 15w50 (as you can see I live in China).
My logic says that this 1 liter of Mobil mixed with the other 5.6 liter of Motul Excess 5w40 makes little to no difference. Would doing a complete oil service be overreacting - I only have ~2000 miles on my current oil service. How bad can oil possibly be?

If it was Mobil 1 I wouldn't be concerned, but since it isn't I'd make my next oil change sooner rather than later.

its not the oil per se thats so different
id be more concerned with how the different additives detergents play with one another
thats the reason to prefer not to mix brands & formulations these days

The bigger question is why does the car need oil so soon after a change?

You can probably mix them no problem.

but I am genuinely very concerned that you burned through a quart of 5w40 motul this quickly. that oil is NOT easy to burn.

Garage List
Most likely a leak and not burning oil. OP check your drain plug and around filter housing for leaks

I only use the car for sporty/hard driving in the weekends and usually it doesn't burn that much. I think the garage didn't fill quite enough when they did the last change.
Last time I tried myself I wasn't able to complete the automatic oil level measurement so the garage might also have given up on that and underfilled a little. So stupid that we dont have a good old oil stick

Any BMW mechanics that can answers how much of a hurry we are in getting this low oil level message?

I dont have any problems mixing oils that are approved for the same thing e.g. like LL-01 for BMW. But adding some Chinese made 17usd/4liter......not so sure about that - even though it is just topping up with 1liter.
