phone holder - air vent magnet

Since my current phone holder is frustrating the crap outta me, I'm on the hunt for an air vent magnetic phone holder for a Samsung S6, although a universal is preferred as changing phones soon.. any recommendations would be gratefully received.

ideally a simple DIY (i do mean simple as I am sh1te at DIY!) how to hide the charging cable would also be appreciated, i currently have a wire dangling from the cigarette lighter which is a little annoying

I just put mine in the center console as I use apps through the I drive. I just use a Bluetooth connection no Car Play.

You can upgrade to sat nav through BMW with a retrofit I believe or an aftermarket solution. The latter solution will allow google maps to work.

Thanks Caz,

I did see that mount, doesn't the MPOW sticker/sign look a little tacky though?

BTW assuming the radio trim is something that just pops off with some gentle pulling? that looks a handy set up so thank you for sharing

Indeed i could and for a short period had the NBT installed, unfortunately didn't go to plan and had to have it removed. So for now, i need a cheap'ish solution to hold the phone and charge whilst on the go

Grab it at the bottom and pull it out/up!

Considering you need the phone up there as a main nav solution, have a look at BRODIT ProClip holders, I used them on my previous 2 cars, including a 1 series (E87). You buy 2 parts, one is the ProClip for your car and the second is the part you can buy custom for your phone, you should be able to buy a magnetic option for the clip.

I have an Anker holder but is only used when I rent a car - still, can recommend the quality of their products and great customer services.

Have you tried maybe a suction cup on the windshield? You can then route the cable behind the A pillar liner and the head linger. I've seen a setup with a friend of mine where you can simply dock the phone and have it charge. It is mounted high on the windshield and the cable routed around and hidden out of site.

I had my phone charge cable similar to the way Caz has his but i found i didn't use it much, it looked untidy and anoyed me so i routed it under and into ash tray for tidy storage.

I fitted a Brodit bracket and dock on the A-pillar, then wired the Lightning/USB cable to the back of the head unit for a direct connection.

The 'phone sits close reasonably close to the steering wheel so that it's in a good line of sight (if I'm using Waze or Google Maps as a backup to the BMW Nav). It also leaves the centre console area completely clear : no obstruction of the air vents or favourites buttons.
