Sat Nav questions

Few questions:

- Real Time Traffic Information service expires very shortly and does anyone know how much to renew per year? Anyone able to live without it? I find it useful enough to check my journey and possible routes around and wonder if i will miss this? I dont want to fiddle with google maps on phone either.

- This is kinda pissing me off but City/Postcode is really crap for entering postcode as it doesn't find most of them, same everyone else?

- Can my map version be updated, does it cost much?

RTTI is a load of crapn UK as it only monitors major roads!

City/postcode would probably be better if you update your map version, info on how to do so for free can be found in the navigation forum.

It's £25 for 6 months, but you get a 1 month "trial" for a £1, RTTI is nowhere near perfect, but I found I couldn't live without it once mine expired!

cheers for responses, i might have to agree with @Jim-Bow i know i can get better results with smartphone google maps but RTTI gets rid of the temptation to even lift he phone.

i am gonna go to the navigation forum, i am guessing someone kind enough has the update file

RTTI was £110 a year the last time I looked on the connected drive website a while ago. Through the same site, you can buy USB map updates for £69.95 which gives you two years worth of updates.

I use Google maps and I hear Waze is excellent.

RTTI is poor in London and never covers the minor roads which are normally always gridlocked. I'll not renew when mine expires.

I renewed RTTI only and it was £40 for the year. I use Waze as well, especially if going in to cities, but Pro Nav is daft without RTTI, and is definitely worth having for less than a pound per week.

I decided against connected services for the same amount as only really used it send addresses to the car.

£40 a year is certainly worth it for RTTI. I use it mostly on major routes rather than cities where it seems pretty good to me. I did once test it when travelling in convoy with a friend in a TMC only BMW from Brands Hatch to Cheltenham in rush hour - that was enough to convince me of the value of RTTI!

I think I'll pass on the concierge service after they spent 5-10 mins looking for a particular destination for me, and then said they would try the internet. WTF were they looking at before?!
