Ferodo DS1.11's, stock rotors and calipers. Proper bed in. Castro SRF fluid. They are an endurance ceramic track pad, a bit overkill but I'm not sure how the cracking differs between that and a more traditional metallic pad.

This is after 6 25 min sessions. Can track guys with more experience chime in?

Garage List
should be down to 40 % of new pad thickness at least before the pad starts to crumble around the edges

Those pads look perfect! They are actually showing less wear than I would expect to see after that many sessions. Small cracks, edge crumbling, etc. are typically not an issue at all. When you heat pads to track temps and cool them back down again, they're growing and shrinking, just like your brake discs. Doing that to just about any metal object will create fatigue, and they will begin to show stress cracks that will typically grow over time. That is not a sign that anything is wrong, simply that you're using them hard at elevated temperatures.

The key is to just be careful when you handle pads that have been run on the track. The expansion and contraction makes them a bit more fragile vs. when they're new. Don't drop them, use them to pry pistons back into the caliper, etc. Doing so is a recipe for destroying them.

Thanks! I appreciate the detailed response. I never thought about them becoming brittle, great tip.
