A little help with tune and watermeth
Hey guys. I finally sent away for a tune and live it so far. About a week after getting the tune, I also got a water meth kit installed. Car drove great and was noticeably faster with the tune, but seems to have slowed down since watermeth install.
I think the problem is with my intact scr and dpf. Does this sound logical? Right now I can hear/feel when then meth starts injecting at high boost but the car doesn't go faster. It actually seems to hold gears longer. Please let me know if I am on the right track or if something else comes to mind. Tune is a JR stage 2 race Wm kit is a snow performance power max. Thanks! |

Stage 2 race calls for the removal of both scr and dpf. I don't believe it is set to work with w/m either but someone smarter will surely chime in. Be careful, you could hurt something.

It sounds like you didn't read the tune requirement's... If you don't get the required parts off you have a ticking time bomb before some major clog issues start happening!

Meth shouldn't have an effect on the tune. It's an additional fuel to combust and that's really about it. Diesel engines don't really care as long as something goes boom and pushes a cylinder down.
If you also in fact got a tune designed for DPF/SCR removal, you MUST delete those components. The DPF regeneration cycle has been shut off and it will clog the system.

The OP could still have all stock components and be running a stage II race. For instance if the OP wanted just the def tuned out, JR considers that a stage II race, but obviously Jarek would have to be aware of that situation when he does the tune. The OP doesn't make any mention of this, so I doubt this is the case.

It looks like I need to buy some exhaust. I see plenty of options for downpipe but there dont seem to be many options for the SCR delete. That is the "midpipe" right?

I'm going through this now. You can gut your scr, that is, cut it open, remove the filter element, and weld it back shut. You can also buy a complete aftermarket exhaust, or another stock exhaust and gut that one if you want to keep your scr intact for use down the road. Lastly, you can take it to a local shop and have them fab up a midpipe. A local shop here just quoted under $200 for the midpipe, so not too bad at all.

iaknown (PM him for details) P&L Exhaust full exhaust or SCR gut (Andrew at AArodriguez is currently selling a downpipe and midpipe package from P&L if I remember correctly) Profi. If you search the forum or the Facebook page you should be able to find sound clips for each one. Personally I am going to go the iaknown route at some point hopefully this summer. |

maybe just for temporary get the down pipe and try to dump it out the side???
that way you can drive without worry before something clogs and leaves you on the side of the road.. it would be really loud and sound cool only for the short time you do it... any longer you will start to hate it lol |

Ya I really wish I felt comfortable enough to do that myself. Most involved thing I've done on a car was change the spark plugs on my neon 10 years ago. I will take another look at the diy I guess.

Well, I put my stock DDE back in until I get the exhaust figured out/installed. After driving for a little while with no tune and the w/m off, i got code P244B.
Anyone have any more info for what this could could be? Update: Looks like P244B is a dpf related error. Wah wah wah. Exhaust ordered. Last edited by Barmlot; 04-26-2017 at 02:05 PM.. Reason: update |

Thanks for the advice. I didn't think it would clog so quickly. Thankfully, I had my dde cloned and am back on stock till exhaust happens. Car gives error code but seems to drive fun, i'm being very gentle with it. FYI, was approximately 200 miles with the tune before trouble. Hopefully this is all that is going on.
