Cleaning exterior on exhaust pipes
Hi,
My exhaust pipes could do with a good clean, they have picked up tar and rubbish from the road, and are losing their sparkle a bit. What product is best for restoring them? Thanks.

I find that autosol works very effectively. Simple to apply and keeps them looking good.

I have used wonder wheels on mine and it shifts the soot and everything really well.

Yet another plug for Solvol Autosol. It cleaned up my four year old E46 exhaust, including the soot really well. So far the E91 has only needed a quick polish of some water marks on the ends of the tips.
Really it just needs a very light polish to take off any surface contaminants. A clay bar would probably work as well, but would be awkward to use.

Mothers Mag & Aluminium Polish is very good for brushed aluminium tail pipes as it is not too abrasive. Some metal polishes can be very aggressive and abrasive.
Have had very good results on my 335d pipes.

Coffee machine cleaner is my choice - nothing cleans my pipes better than that white powdery stuff. True!

Autoglym metal polish has worked fine on mine, although they never got that bad to start with.
