Alpine Retrofit problem
Hi all,
I have my car in a Specialist getting the Alpine retrofit kit fitted. They have tried to code through ISTA/P and it is asking for the telematics module, which my car has one. But its not activating the amp etc. So, I have coded EBT, so do you think this is affecting it? I am going to have a go with ESYS before either taking it to BMW to troubleshoot, or get them to take it out. If this is the case, do you think it would work if I removed EBT, coded the Alpine kit, then recoded EBT?

Hi, seeing your thread here and couldn't resist.
When you say its asking for that module and its not activating the amp. Are you saying the procedure fails? With an error or something? And when you say activating the amp. Does it not produce sound? Does it produce poor sound? Do you think you should see something different in iDrive that isn't there? Sorry just curious since I just installed the alpine myself and as you know from the other thread I'm unsure about required coding. However, from what I read the amp will not activate as such. Not as in that there is a new controller in ESYS visible or so. Or that something has been added to iDrive. |

Hi, Sorry I've been on holiday. Basically what it came down to was that they were trying to import a new file downloaded from BMW, and it was trying to flash a combox that I didnt have. (Not sure which one, but I have ATM). I guess they could have done it manually, but they didnt really have a clue. So I went in and did it with E-Sys. All working perfectly (after swapping the channels over).

I will be needing to code in Hifi or (option 676?) in a few weeks when I get a new amp and speakers and I have not had time to hook up via E-SYS and see what it is all about yet. From reading the forums, would the following steps get me the hifi / balanced outputs option? 1. Connect E-SYS to car 2. Read FA 3. Save FA 4. Click edit and calculate FP 5. Add "HO-Wort = HIFI" to HO-Wort and Save 6. Code the Head Unit and Combox ? Do this by :- Read FA (VO), Activate FA (VO), Read SVT (VCM) - Right-Click on desired ECU and Select code for both? Thanks a Lot Andrew |

I can confirm they are the steps mate, I did it myself also.
The only thing to look out for is the AMP wont appear, so you cant code it, you can only code the HU. This is due to it not connecting to the MOST ring I believe. I think Abz actually did one mroe step than me, but I did exactly as you stated above and it works sweet! |

Hi Andrew,
Your steps 1-6 are exactly what you need to do, you dont need to add option 676 as the HO Wort is all you need. Quote:
