I've had so many cars in my 46 years. Loved my [3] E46 M3's and my [2] R32's. had many cars as well as these. BUT i feel bonded again to this car. Looking out of the window all the time. Looking for reasons to go to the shop to pick something up. it's been a while since I've done that.

After 91k miles I think is fair to say I've bonded with mine. It's the most miles I've driven any car I've owned and I've had the most "adventures" in this car of any I've had- multiple track days, European road trips as far as Croatia, Nurburgring, my all time V-max of 167mph, and yet also the really mundane stuff like fully loaded trips back from IKEA, and the dump!
One car to do it all then this is hard to beat. It did take a bit of modifying to be the car I wanted (suspension, remap, brakes, exhaust), but now it's done i find it irreplaceable unless I spend a stack more money.

God, this is embarrassing.
I've had my F31 335d touring for just over a week, 250 miles or so. In that time I've really bonded with it. Super capable in so many dimensions. I may actually have bought the right car for a change... My previous was an Audi S3. In all honesty, I never really bonded with it. On paper it's a great car, but....it never really grabbed me. Upshifts were a hoot though :-) |

I love my E90 325dse (manual). Had it for 5 years.
I'm still trying to bond with my F30 335d after 1 month and 1500 miles. But I'm struggling, as it's quite a different style of driving. Luckily at the moment, I can hang on to the E90. Although I'm not sure that's helping the cause

Ive had an F31 335d as our family shed since the autumn and whilst its great Im not sure Im as smitten with it as some of you
Loves: Stomp - FFS how much faster do you really need a car to go? Its just awesome MPG - 50 on the motorway cruising in the 73-78mph bracket Stealth - mines debadged and silver, it looks like a 316i and I have no stress leaving it in inner city and work car parks Neutral: The handling, a bit wallowy for sure but OK by me as it isnt meant to be a sports car and the ride is pretty good otherwise, certainly rides better than my E46 Msport did which was diabolical on anything other than perfect blacktop Hates: Patchy quality - abysmal PDI - lights badly aimed, satnav locked and handbrake badly adjusted, after a couple of months I also had the top bit of my bonnet badge fly off which seems not uncommon. Im also not happy with the windnoise from the drivers door seal - another issue that comes up on here My car is leased, which is possibly why I consider it to be more of a commodity than a love interest, but if Id paid with my own money the snags it came with would seriously put me off the marque. As it is the deal was good and I can just throw it back at them in 18 months without worrying if mines a Friday afternoon car and will lunch its turbos 2 weeks out of warranty Cheers! |

Having a manual 325d.
You get used to lots of torque at low rpm. Above around 50mph (ie. 6th gear) it wasn't really necessary to change down when squeezing the throttle. But. You could change down if you wanted to wring the most out of it in any situation. Why does an auto box feel the need to change down a gear, or even two, when just squeezing the throttle? That's what I'm struggling with. Gear change = wasted fuel. Higher rpm = more fuel. Its a diesel engine with lots of low rpm torque! It almost seems that a psychological mind game is being played, with the higher rpm giving the sound/feel of petrol engine 'smoothness'? IMO. There's a lot of throttle travel, apart from 'kick-down', that could be used to decide whether a gear change is required or not. I know you can 'stick to the left' to have more control and I like this option with the flappy paddles. Maybe I haven't explored this enough yet? I wasn't expecting a huge increase in grunt over the 325d but it's going to need the boiler stoking to make it feel less wanting. Sorry if I'm sounding too negative. It really is a nice car. But that bond.....

EcoPro limits the torque so reduces likelihood of changing down. No point in having 600+Nm of torque.

Is there Room for Guy with 320d? I always find an excuse to just drive because i really like the car and it's cornering abilities, x drive with m performance brakes and active suspension is a good mix for any Driving environment or style. Also to me cockpit feels modern and comfortable. Also m sport steering wheel is a great looker too
