Newbie: 440i GC LCI on order: Qs re M Performance Acc, ECU Tuning & GTechniq Products
Hi folks
New to the forum, this is my first post. I have a long 12 week wait for my 440i LCI GC to arrive and am looking into the extras I want to get sorted when the car finally comes. Spec: http://mybmw.co.uk/m0n4x0j5 440i Gran Coupe LCI Colour - Metallic Mineral Grey Seats - BMW Individual extended merino leather, cashmere beige Option - Adaptive headlights - BMW Icon LED (requires M Sport Plus Pack) Option - Air breather - body colour Option - Digital cockpit (not with head-up display) Option - Dynamic Pack (requires M Sport Plus Pack) Option - Exterior badge deletion - model designation Option - Exterior badge deletion - trim designation Option - Heated seats - rear Option - Lumbar support -- front Option - M Sport Plus Pack Option - Mirrors - power-fold, auto-dim (included with Driver Comfort Pack) Option - Rear-view camera (included with Advanced Parking Pack) Option - Split fold rear seats Option - Storage - extended (included with Driver Comfort Pack) Option - Trim - instrument panel, BMW Individual leather Option - Trim inlays - fineline anthracite wood/pearl chrome I find the Rear Apron ugly as hell and want to get the Carbon rear Diffuser fitted Same for the Carbon Front Splitter. Brochure and website don't currently have them available or priced so no idea what the costs would be, any ideas? Ive looked into GTechniq CS Black Protection package and whilst expensive I wanted to know what people thought of the finish and protection? I am also looking into an ECU remap and seems plenty of companies offering a B58 remap to reach 400bhp. Which companies have got a good reputation, quality product and come recommended on the forum please? Thanks All Last edited by Ampersand1979; 04-12-2017 at 01:45 PM.. |

So finally picked up the 440i GC this weekend from BMW Bournemouth. What a top class service.
Asked them not to wash the car and just remove the stickers as I didn't want any swirls being added by dodgy Valeting. Booked in for the full GTechniq works this weekend (Exo/Crystal Black) This is the first auto car I have driven in 20 years, its life changing! Anyway what a smooth engine, bags of torque, nice responsive auto transmission and the growl in Sport+ mode is fantastic. Will post high res SLR pics after the GTechniq treatments next week. |

I can testify for GTechnique CSL. I applied it myself on my F32 and it is great followed by two coats of Exo v3. With proper maintenance it will net you 3 years. CS is 5 and I believe Black is 7+
So it depends on how long you intend to keep the car. Personally I'd be happy to go with CSL and re-apply it after 3 years. Each to their own. The dealer offerings are worth a consideration. Yes they ram products down your throat but it can pay off. For example we brought Supa Guard 5 year on our F30. Some evil fell from the sky... left etching in the boot lid. The dealer was paid by Supa Guard to polish it out. It was so bad that a respray was required and this was done without quibble. The protection was then reapplied by the dealer. To me it has already paid for itself. It cost us 250 extra. On metallic black sapphire like ours you are likely to experience such an issue if you park exposed to the elements. So it depends on what level of cover the dealer protection offers. Read the terms and conditions as Supa Guard terms may have changed. The drawback is that it doesn't offer the same level of light scratch protection as the base CSL! It is not as hydrophobic as made out to be. After 6 or so extremely powerful diesel powered pressure washes it is stripped off easily. |

I really like that, especially the silver trim above the windows. Sets it off really nicely.
Edit: Your air breather is clearly not body coloured, (the vent on the wing) is that a mistake in your spec or a mistake on their part? |

Nice car.
I have already got my car booked in for black and c2 on the wheels, I think its a worthwhile investment on a new car. In terms of remaps I guess it depends what your after. I went for the MPPSK kit as it doesn't invalidate the warranty and has great sound and modest uplift. If you not to fussed about warranty and want max beans then I guess aftermarket is where its at.

How come the air breather isn't body coloured?

Exterior trim - Satin aluminum then your air breather is aluminum as well which in these photos might look like 'uncoloured'. At least it looks like that in the BMW configurator once this option is selected. |

The vent is in sync with the Satin Aluminum trim surround, so very much on purpose. At time of order BMW agreed to let me swap the shadow line for satin Aluminum for free, its not a £160 option on all M Sport models. I prefer it to Black tbh. |

Will post pix this weekend post Detailing, the Cashmere Beige really works, I was initially concerned its a bit too beige, but with the extended dash it lightens up the cabin to offset the fact I didn't opt for a sunroof.

Will post a pic but the rear apron is NOT gloss grey/black, it is actually painted the same colour as the main paint, I was pleasantly surprised and am no longer so eager to get a carbon diffuser (That and I just purchased a new motorbike too so am feeling poor now!)
