Door Slammers
I really really hate it when a passenger leaves my car and SLAMS the door shut.
Why do they do it ? A 'friend' slammed one of my rear doors so hard that one of the rear light bulbs became loose. Death is too good for these people ! |

Cheaper cars have lighter doors that you need to close with more force. People get used to that so then when they are in a more premium car with a nice heavy door, they slam it out of habit.

My kids are the worst for this. And with car seats fitted, the seatbelt doesn't always retract properly, so on both my old and new cars, they've managed to dent / scratch the bodywork inside the door shut area by trapping the metal part when slamming the door. Thinking of giving them up for adoption

I have this issue on the F06.
People seem to want to use the glass to shut the door and not the handles. Threats of me breaking their fingers usually do the trick. |

Never had a shock off the BMW, I'm never sure if it's the car building up charge or just the movement between your body / clothes and the seat that charges you up. Maybe leather seats dissipate the charge before it builds up. Annoying though when people slam the door. My son is the worst for this and when I pointed this out he couldn't see he's done anything wrong. But then that goes for just about anything he does |

A lighter door needs more effort to close? How does that work?

I'm talking about educating door slammers in the nicest possible way..
It's cheap and easy if you are not scared of the sight of blood. Slam Stop looks a good product but could be expensive and of course being paranoid about rattles, I would worry about having the door cards removed and refitted. |

Can I add people that can't seem to work out how to get out of the car to the list?
My in laws have to ask me every time how to get out. They pull the handle, say "how do you get out", I say you have to pull twice, and the buggers just yank the handle even harder! |

I think what he meant was the lighter door needs to be travelling faster as it has less momentum and therefore doesn't close properly if it isn't travelling fast enough. A heavier door at the same slow speed has sufficient momentum to close.
You're right that it's not more effort though, just more speed. |

I had soft close doors in my previous 5 series. You could close the door with one finger.
The problem was no one but me knew they where soft close, so everyone slammed them! Drove me mad, would never have soft close again. |
