Blue Smoke
I started my f30 today ready to drive home from work and immediately had a large puff of blue smoke from the exhaust. I've noticed a little blue smoke from a cold start before when driving away from home before but it clears after a few meters. Could this be worn valve guide stem seals, has anyone else had this on a N20 engine? The last time i had this on a car i was driving a ford escort XR3I . My f30 has only covered 50000 miles i cant belive its going to start smoking like an old ford already!

You can get the seals changed, but as it means a carefully carried out re-build, they often just change the turbo core (the bit that houses the bearings and seals and has the hot and cold wheels on it. Those reconditioned units normally go for around £1000. No labour of course. |
