Interesting 340i - M25 anti clock near M40....

On the M25 tonight, a beautiful tanzanite blue F30 badged as a 340i, though I did think the badge looked a bit odd and the 4 seemed slightly different colour / shinyness.......

I then realised it had twin pipes at the same side, not the one each side a *40i should have.... could this be the cardinal sin....?

Sorry, no picture as I was driving and alone. Private reg that started E8 though...

Sounds like it...

It wasn't per chance quad pipes? An up-exhausted 40i?

I think we've all decided homage in aesthetic or functional modifications is ok, and often has real benefits.

Though, up-badging may be grounds for excommunication from the forum. Should they be a member...

Is replacing the engine badge not worse than removing and putting a generic M badge on? Surely going all the way to M3 badge is worse still though?

Caz 320d and proud mate..representing a 40i debadged surely isnt a cardinal sin. now putting a 40i badge on would warrant serious shit from folks!

My view entirely - mods are fine but up badging is sad...

No quad pipes. Did have the factory fit M badge on the wing.

Surely not a member as they would have been talked into really buying a *40i....

I saw a 4er in Tesco Scunthorpe car park last week. Looked nice from the front, but when it drove past it had a M4 badge and a single tailpipe

Looks great, apart from the tacky number plate surround...

Followed a black E90 up the M3 yesterday badged M335D - xDrive and with quad exhausts. Couldn't tell if it was a 318d or not ;-)
