340i Stick Left = Louder Exhaust?

Following on from a recent thread which raised but didn't answer this question. Does anyone have a definitive response?

If "sport" is set to "chassis only" will stick left engage the louder exhaust pipe and noise or do you have to go to "sport+" / reprogram "sport" to include drivetrain?

IMO (not everyone agrees with this) stick to left sounds louder because you're in a higher gear.

After warm up the flap is open anyway, regardless which mode you are in. I spent far too much time on my knees checking

I did read somewhere having it in Sport+ with gearbox in S/manual and traction control completely off (hold TC button down for 3-5 seconds) gives a louder note compared to simply being in Sport+.

Not sure if this was only for M3/4's but I'm sure some guys on the M140i/240i forums said the same is true for theirs. Anybody tried it?

Does it actually make a difference then? How does it change the sound in comfort?

It does make it sound deeper and you do get the crackles out of it on overrun. It basically sounds like it would in Sport mode but obviously, you haven't got the full ASD internal soundtrack to go with it. Externally though, it is a better sound.

Just unplug the valve and try it (make sure it is open when you do it)
