M-Performance sound & kit package (dealer install) on current lease

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with any modification from bmw dealership after leasing a car. I want the M-performance sound/kit package on my current lease. I may end up buying the car later on but still considering. So the question is can the bmw dealer install m-performance kit on my current lease?

Yes but you will be paying full price since it was not a port install.

Oh really? No residual factored in for lease? Are they able to add it to monthly payments?

You cannot. You are paying out of pocket for it.

Difficult to find used, software of MPPSK once installed, cannot be removed, therefore you would need to find it from someone sho bought and never put in in. The exhaust is not very plentiful either, furthermore, cost of used is not much savings. I would suggest going to Dinan, they have a very nice sounding exhaust for less and it is very easy to install.

You will not be able to find a used one. Get the whole thing with the power kit. You will not regret it.

Note: When I leased mine I could add in the M Exhaust at port, but they would not let me add the power kit, so I paid out of pocket for it. My lease is up in a year, and I am 50/50 if I am keeping the car. It was worth the extra money I paid for the power kit, even if I turn my car in.

If it was port install you could this is what I did. At this point you could look at other options like jb and an exhaust for less money. I love my mppsk but it helps a lot that I'm not paying full price. If you plan to keep the car then the mppsk is a good choice.

I already have jb4 installed. I was thinking of downpipe but i rather get MPE or MPPSK since downpipe can avoid warranty and shows CEL (state inspection issues as well due to catless downpipe). So i decided to go to MPE or MPPSK route.

Really i will be considering it. How much did it cost you fully with installation?

Wouldnt the dealer have issues with dinan exhaust while going in for services?

No, Dinan is BMW authorized.

The power kit and is different on the 335, so I cannot compare since you have the B58

MPE that you're seeing as the same for the x35 and x40 cars is an axle-back exhaust, basically muffler only. MPPSK for the x40 vehicles comes with a cat-back exhaust, straight pipe w/o the resonator.

Best case scenario is to get it port installed as you paying invoice cost and even that is residualized at the same rate of the car. Because of this, you'd be hard pressed to find just the exhaust for sale used.

At the time of signing, the ink dried on your lease contract. You can't add nor take away from it. Exception to the rule is if buying more miles, BMWFS will let you add that cost spread out over your remaining payments.

If you get any accessories installed by the dealer on a lease, wouldn't you have to also remove those accessories (and pay $$$ for that) before returning the lease?

No it's not. This is a common misconception.

Dinan has their own warranty that covers repairs on their components.. Dinan parts will be subject to scrutiny for the BMW warranty and could absolve BMW from covering repairs related to the Dinan component. Call your dealer.

Car has to be returned in the same condition it was given to you. Parts installed prior to delivery and included on window sticker, has to stay w/ the vehicle. Anything you (or the dealer) install post-delivery has to be removed before the car goes back to BMWFS. At the pre-turn in inspection is the time to discuss what you will remove or what the dealer may do for you.

For example, on my 320 the dealer said to leave the tint, wrap on the roof, mirrors, and grill. I took my shifter and handbrake. I saw pics of it now for sale, they took it off the roof and mirrors but left the tint and grills on.
