Last call for March...
According to Genius my car was 'at sea' yesterday, then 9650 (awaiting dispatch to dealer) this morning.
So I emailed the dealer an hour ago, and now it's registered. I reckon this has saved me £1,110 over 4 years compared to registering it from tomorrow onwards. Wish I had ordered the adaptive LED's now - would have paid for itself! Anyone else sneaking in with last minute registrations today, and feeling as smug as I am right now? And if you're due for delivery by mid-April and haven't checked Genius recently (as if), do it now there might still be time! |

Just waiting for the engine to be run in properly before giving it a proper try. Although, I've had it up to 6,000 rpm briefly a few times..... |

I was just starting to think about run-in. Are there any agreed best practices on here anywhere, in a sticky or something (I haven't searched yet)?

Well done Bunzo! I had a close call too, I guess they were both on Autoprestige together. Here is the time line:
20th Jan - Placed order 17th Mar - 5055 Confirmed by Production Control 18th Mar - 5100 Bodyshop Start 19th Mar - 5270 Paintshop Complete 21st Mar 14:00 - 5300 Pre Assembly Start 21st Mar 21:35 - 5500 Assembly Complete 23rd Mar 20:00 - 8200 Released to Carrier 25th Mar 08:00 - 9000 Departed Plant 28th Mar 13:30 - 9605 Pre EU Port of Exit 29th Mar 13:30 - 9620 At Sea 31st Mar 08:00 - 9630 Port of Entry The last few days have been nervous wait. Once the car was on Autoprestige from Cuxhaven I knew it was game on to beat the tax deadline. The ship departed Cuxhaven about 7 hours late and didn't arrive in to Immingham until 13:30 yesterday. The photo below is the ship departing Cuxhaven. The dealership tried to tax the car last night, but the status code still hadn't changed to 9630. It worked this morning though! Only £145/year instead of £200 this year and then £450 for the next 5 years after that. Finished with the car stalking now, just need to wait for the dealership to get the car now! |

Ha Ha Ha - Seriously, my wife is concerned at the level I went to!!!
I looked at the shipping schedules for UECC. The last trip of the week was CUX-IMM on the 29th. Southampton & Bremerhaven were none starters. The car had got to 9605 the day before Autoprestige arrived, so there was a possibility it may make it. I checked at 10pm on the 28th with Genius and it was still 9605 - Still had to get to 9610 (German Customs). On the morning of the 29th Autoprestige was running about 6-7hours late and the car status was still at 9605. 10am I got a call from the dealership that the car was "at sea". I saw that Autoprestige had still not left the dock yet, so it kind of made sense the car had been loaded. I even tracked the ship using an iPad app just to make sure it didn't sink!! Interesting stuff, but I'm done with boats now! Many congrats on the car, I'm sure it won't be too long now. Genius is saying delivery around 12th April for mine. |

haha yep! didn't mention the FCA but I did say to them it sounds as though its being delayed don purpose to suit someones agenda and once I spoke to the main guy he rang me back within an hour saying it had been registered and to be fair to him he was very apologetic. Think someone might be getting a bollocking!

My G30, landed at port today and was taxed immediately by my dealer. Saving £310 a year on tax. Thanks god. Just the wait to get it from port to dealer.

Plus, I did ignore the advice on a couple of cars and they seemed to use more oil than ones where I did it. Might just be a coincidence, but as 1200 miles for me is 2 weeks, it's not much of a hardship. |

My g30 was built on the 23rd of march but has been stuck at 8200 (released to carrier ) since then and as a result missed the 1st April tax deadline, so as a result Been penalised with the tax hike. I only signed the contract with the dealers assurance that it will be taxed before then. The dealer doesn't know why there is a delay and had informed me that 2 customers had orders placed on the same day as me had their cars arrive in the uk on the 31st and were registered. Do you guys think that BMW should compensate on the basis that the dealer had full assurance that the car would be taxed before the deadline?
