Emissions light
Hi all,
today my 320d emissions light came on? Any ideas on the usual cause of this? no errors in the vehicle status screen, seems to drive ok? |

That's not an emission light, it's the engine management light. It could be one of a thousand things.
Get it read and you will know pretty quickly what's potentially wrong. It might even disappear by the morning. |

They can get blocked if you done a lot of short run abouts. Give it a good booting up the motorway for 10 mins or so. This usually clears it. If it doesn't go out then it might be something else. Just something for you to try. P.s the car hasn't gone into limp home mode has it? As in -loss of power ,30-40 mph only achievable. |

It's nothing to do with dpf, that'll come under drivetrain accompanied with a yellow warning triangle.
These is something less severe and can be read by a cheap code reader. |

Pretty sure if dpf is struggling it's the worst advice to the OP to thrashing the car on motorway, do the motorway journey but easy.
Is your mpg changed? |

Everything seemed normal, power performance & mpg
took it in today, my mechanic accidently pressed the 'clear code' button instead of 'read code' so light is now off and up till now hasn't come back on gutted not to yet know what the fault was |

I think the fault might be logged in the car so BMW could still read it.
