2013 328i xDrive SULEV - Would you buy?

Trying to make up my mind about jumping into a BMW for the first time ever. There is a 2013 328i xDrive SULEV with luxury pack and harmon kardon sound with 33,654 miles listed at $18,900. Car is clean, drives great, and checks out with regard to carfax 1 owner/recalls/etc. However, it is not being sold by a BMW dealer and is not CPO (it is a large reputable dealer with like 9 dealerships in the area, just not BMW).

I know you would all probably recommend the M sport line or whatever, but I'm coming off a Mazda 6 lease so the standard setup is sporty enough for me.

Would you buy considering low miles even if it wasn't CPO?

Yes, it's a BMW

Personally, I wouldn't go non-CPO due to the costs of repairs when things DO fail but these cars are pretty solid so you "should" be safe going for it without. As everyone will say, it's "insurance".

I have the Luxury line myself but have you driven one WITH the adaptive suspension? Makes a huge difference. This car you posted is actually a base model with Leatherette interior, no navi/larger screen, etc. So it has Harmon Kardon and heated seats but anything else? Xenons? Comfort Access? To me, this sounds a bit too spartan, even if you were coming from a Mazda!

I know a lot would consider 30-some thousand miles low but I consider that "average" for a lease. Car probably sat a lot in between man.

I was wondering about the "leatherette" listing on the website. the VIN check on bmwvin.com says "Upholstery - LEDER DAKOTA/DF VENETOBEIGE (LCDF)" --- That's the Dakota leather right?

It doesn't have HIDs or nav or driver assist package. I am ok not having any of those things since the only one I would actually use is the rearview camera. HIDs would be nice, but I've never had them so i dont technically know what I'm missing

I guess the question is, is it a good price for the options? Also, are there any decent reputable 3rd party warranty options? As far as I know, the dealer does not offer any.

Many, many people say "I don't need HIDs"; and then they start driving it with what have been called some of the worst halogen headlights in the biz.

I'd keep searching for something better.

Maybe I am confused about how the BMW packages work. It does have leather and the comfort keyless access (I used this myself at the dealer). I thought that was luxury package? Or are they just a la carte options?

In any case, I'm going to take a look at it again tonight and think hard about HIDs. Thanks for input!

I would buy it, H/K is rare on 328i's and is super important in my opinion.. you can buy the xenon retrofit headlights for 400$ also.... Dont pass up on a good deal! I have had 2 F30's, one with halogen and one with xenon, both headlights work just fine.

lol I'd put my wife's Subaru Impreza halogens up against anything for title of worst in the business. I get your point though.

Ahhhh - I see now. Thank you for this. Ok so it has Premium pkg, Cold Weather pkg, and the H/K sound upgrade.

Is there any benefit to the expanded screen nav system other than the nav itself (which i won't use)? I usually use my phone for nav/music hooked up to car speakers by either aux cable or BT

It's higher resolution, and you can split screen to show 2 different functions at one time.
