13 flat in a N20 6MT :)

With some luck and some embarrassing trial and error figuring out the best way to launch and have only the optimal amount of wheel spin. My first six passes either bogged down when I slipped the clutch in Sport+ with the DTC active so I finally disabled everything (held the traction control button in Comfort mode for 5+ seconds and DSC and DTC both turned off). I revved to just under 3K rpms and did a super quick feather of the clutch while waiting just a fraction of a second to go full power to the gas while it was spinning. I shifted at around 6500-6700 rpms in each gear. This was my best time and last run of the day. FYI, the conditions were pretty ideal. 70 degrees with very low humidity and surprisingly good track prep (Richmond, VA). The way I launched the car at the drag strip is in no way, shape, or form how I would drive it regularly or really launch on the street but I was out to see what I could get out of it. I'm very happy.

Current mods on my 2016 328i 6MT are in signature, but for posterity - BPC flash tune, Wagner Evo2 Comp FMIC, ER charge pipe, M3 spark pugs, M Performance exhaust, and Michelin PSS tires.

Very respectable time for an n20. I'll have to try that launch technique as I have had bad luck spinning hard off the line.

lmao! i remember telling you how to fully turn off DSC.. its nice to come back onto the forum and see this.

so the n20 is quicker shifting at 6500 VS 7000RPM right? did you try both?

I shifted each time at 6500 based upon my dyno graph which showed peak hp around 5300rpms and peak torque around 3100rpms, I figured that short shifting just a bit would peak me in the meatier part of my powerband.

Thanks for helping me fully disable traction control, with DTC active in Sport+ I was in the 13.5-13.6 range.

no worries!

next time you're at the drag strip, try doing a run shifting at redline. since you are not stock, I feel like it would help keep the RPM's in a more aggressive area of the powerband during each upshift and might make a small difference.
