Yet another poll on colors - interior w/ Tanzanite
Hey all-
Getting ready to order my new 340i in Tanzanite! Was originally thinking Saddle Brown, but saw Oyster at the dealer in a Midnight Blue 4 series... Looks great. And then there's Venetian Beige, which kinda splits the difference. I know it's all personal preference, but hoping to see a comment that will make a difference, because I can't decide! - Saddle Brown. Looks a bit orange? Thinking it might clash with the Tanzanite (similar to EBII and CR, know that some of you like this, not me though). But then, isn't blue and brown sort of the classic BMW colors? - Oyster. Wish the lower dash wasn't Oyster. Seems like too much. Not really concerned about keeping it clean. I have CR now and only cleaned it twice, has held up well. Also, related question. If I do Oyster, would the Aluminum trim with EB highlight look awesome? Or out of place with Tanzanite? - Venetian Beige. It's the safe choice. But seems too, well, beige. Too plain? Also, wish the lower dash wasn't beige. Help!! |

Voted Oyster. I had BSM and Oyster with aluminum trim for my e90. I always received compliments on it. I have CR now and can tell you oyster requires a bit more effort required to keep it clean but it looks amazing

I spent more time considering the choices than I normally would and went Oyster but I don't think any choice would be horrible. I did like the dark lower dash on the Saddle Brown, I also liked the blue trim with the Oyster a lot, I'd say it's required if you go that color. Nothing jumps out with the Venetian Beige and that could be a good thing considering the Tanzanite is ... I don't know, is bold a good descriptor? Thats my 2 cents.

Oyster against blue is awesome and would be my preferred choice here.
Beige is only a hint darker. I actually like that it goes up to mid dash. Saddle is awesome but Im not a huge fan if it paired with Tanz.

I'm getting tanzanite with golden brown which is even more toward the orange. I've seen it in you tube videos and it looks fantastic. If I wasnt getting individual leather I would go for the saddle brown.

Saddle Brown for 3 reasons:
1. It is my favorite F30 interior color - it won't clash with the blue like the Coral does. 2. I don't like the look of the light colored lower dash on either the Oyster or Beige 3. The Oyster would be my second choice, but you would have to be sure you could keep it looking clean for the entire length of your ownership. BTW, all are great with blue, so you really can't go wrong. Don't overlook Beige Sensatec. It looks great and holds up better and saves a few bucks. Dakota leather isn't the nicest leather.

I have Oyster with Med Blue (somewhat similar to Tanzanite) and it does look very good, but is quite high maintenance (especially with kids), so voted Saddle.

Saddle is awesome, I have it with EB... goes superb with any blue, doesn't clash at all. I've always loved Tan coloured leather anyway and it seems to go well with any exterior colour as it's very natural in appearance. It looks far better to the eye than it does on the configurator, which makes it look quite dull. You'll find this the easiest to keep clean too. Oyster, while stunning, will get very grubby very quickly from past experience (and see post above from RedKloud!!) Beige would be a great compromise! Whichever you go for it won't be a 'wrong' choice as they all look superb!!
update: you've also kind of answered your own question as you don't like the pale coloured lower dash (I do in beige, but not oyster or saddle) Saddle is also the 'warmest' looking in my opinion. You say you're not bothered about keeping it clean, but just wait til you've had oyster for 6 months!!! Last edited by nozydog; 03-13-2017 at 11:23 AM.. |

My e90 had venetian beige and I liked it at first, but then wished it had the lower dash in all black. I would have gotten Saddle if I had ordered the car but I bought used and they didn't make saddle for 2013 with EBII.
Oyster looks great when new...blue rubbed off from my jeans onto the venetian when I had it, I can only assume it would do it worse in the Oyster. And then the fact that the lower dash is oyster as well turns me off of this color.

Voted oyster. So much better that the saddle brown in person. I drove one with a saddle brown interior last week and find it to be just so off, not a nice brown tone IMO.

Damn. Just about 50-50 split on SB vs. Oyster.
Thanks for all the comments! Like bimmer_girl89, my wife has a strong dislike for SB. Daughter also prefers Oyster. Aarrggh! #firstworldproblems |

Just to tip the scales, here is my Tanzanite Blue 340i with Saddle Brown interior on delivery day at the dealer. Sorry I don't have a better interior view against the exterior, but this combo was my first choice. Oyster was my 2nd choice and may have been 1st if not for the lower dash, and my concern for keeping the seats clean. I had a Mystic Blue with Natural Brown E46 330i ZHP years ago and both exterior and interior are darker on this F30. The SB isn't orange to me and it's hard to replicate colors on computer monitors, especially since most monitors aren't color-calibrated.

Your car has been my screensaver for the longest time. I'm waiting on the same thing because I seriously believe its the most beautiful car in that color in the world (except my inside will be golden brown and red sycamore).

Pick Cohiba Brown with extended leather in combination with your Tanzanite blue and you'll be happy I was considering Oyster or Cohiba Brown with Mineral White exterior, but than I've seen Oyster after 3 months and it was disaster, than I chose Cohiba brown. But in the end Mineral white was discontinued wit LCI, so I picked Champagne quartz exterior (felt in love when seen it personaly) - and it would be too much brown in one car with Cohiba brown - ended in combination Champagne Quartz + Merino Black extended And I'm happy with that

I've ordered a 435d LCI in Tanzanite blue...
...(Gran Coupe) and have gone for Ivory White leather and individual gloss back trim, along with the M Sport Plus pack in the UK. Friends of mine have the oyster which looks nice, although denim marks it easily so was advised not to go any whiter, but when I compared oyster with ivory (which is whiter), there was no competition, ivory looks amazing (in my opinion ). I need to stock up on leather cleaner! Good luck!!
