M2 Coding - Easy Seat Entry

Found a new coding parameter thanks to the F30 forums I did not know was possible. Also, thanks to fellow M2 owner in KC for bringing this to my attention. Kimosabi

I was able to code easy seat entry on the F87. Here are the ESYS parameters to accomplish this (6D is driver seat and 6E module is passenger seat)-

In the SM2 (6d) module:
3000 SM_GLOBAL -> EINAUSSTIEGSHILFE = Modus_FA_SLV
3012 EAH -> EAH_VERFAHRWEG_SLV_PHYS = Werte=00, 64
3012 EAH -> EAH_SCHUTZFREIRAUM_HINTEN_SLV_PHYS = Werte=00, 00

In the SM2 (6e) module:
3000 SM_GLOBAL -> EINAUSSTIEGSHILFE = UKNOWN, WERTE=03
3012 EAH -> EAH_VERFAHRWEG_SLV_PHYS = Werte=00, 64
3012 EAH -> EAH_SCHUTZFREIRAUM_HINTEN_SLV_PHYS = Werte=00, 00

Not sure why this is not enabled by default from factory.... but BMW.

So, here is what this does. You open your door, it will move the seat back further to make it easier to get into the car. I am not fat by any means, but gives you plenty of room. When you shut the door/start the car, the seat moves up to your fob saved location.

Also, when you shut off the car/open the door, it moves the seat back to give you room to get out without honking your horn and scaring people.

Just thought I would bring this to M2 owners attentions. This has been discussed on other F series forums within the last year.

I had to mess with the EAH_VERFAHRWEG_SLV_PHYS parameter a little to get this to work. My understanding is this is a safety feature to prevent the seat going all the way back and smashing your rear passengers??? Do people really ride in the back of these things?!? ok.... yeah maybe a couple times.

Happy coding.

Great info and appreciate your post.

Do you by any chance have any coding info on what I would call "Easy Window Ingree/Egress"? Meaning that when you unlock or open either door the window goes down halfway to make easy ingress/egress, especially egress when you are parked in a tight parking space.

Never heard of that. Do other BMWs have this feature?

Sorry for stupid question, but why would you want the window to go down halfway?

It makes it much easier to exit out of the car in very tight parking spaces or when another car is parked very close to your car. It allows your upper torso to extend outwards passed where the window is. Sometimes in tight parking spaces you have to hold the opened door so it want touch the car next to you and then you have to twist your body trying to get out. I have seen it done on an M3 but I cannot find the code.

Interesting. Makes sense. Well if was done on newer F series M3, might be possible.

I coded the safety feature on the windows when rolling up and opening the door simultaneously. Sure it is somewhere close to that.

I've had the seat entry setting coded on my 228i for the last year or so, I wish I had done it earlier. It makes it easier to get in and out but I think the biggest benefit is less chance of wear on the Dakota leather on the bolsters. My 3 year old, low KM 228i has some wear on the bolsters that would probably look better if this setting was controlled through iDrive or on by default.

Actually I've seen what I want on the E9x M3 not the F series. That car had the comfort access, which I do, so i know it can be done but cannot find the code. I have coded the auto function as you described as well and it is very helpful. So basically I want the window to go down and stop at half point when you open the door. Then when the door is closed the window automatically continues the close function all the way up.

Good way to get your doors all dinged up too.

My Australian delivered 135 coupe used to do this. No comfort access. One click on the remote for normal entry. Two clicks on the remote and the window would drop down when you opened the door.

Yes, sounds like a situation I would not park my car in ever if I could avoid. Do we know if this has a specific BMW terminology I could research? Not sure what this window feature would be called?

Ok, so something similar to this -
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209357

I need to find what this is called. Tested the double unlock on my M2, but did not work.

Double press works on mine. U.K. Spec 16 plate. First time it happened I didn't understand why and the BMW genius at the dealer told me.

tried this today. I too want it just to reduce abrasion. Worked, but 64 (100mm) was a long way back for me. changed it to something more useable. Will see if i keep it.

Just to expand on the 3 values that are being coded, the first is used to enable the feature, the second is a parameter that says how much the seat should move back when enabled and the 3rd parameter is a minimum space to leave. So, my preferred approach is to tweak the 3rd parameter to allow enough space for legs and/or any items that will be left in the rear footwell and then leave the 2nd parameter fairly large. Then it pretty much always moves back to allow the minimum space.

Wouldn't this decrease the life of the seat motor?

Just thinking how much it would suck if the motor burns out when the seat is all the way back...hope you have some long legs so you can drive it to the dealership for what I can only imagine would be a sizable repair bill (assuming you're out of warranty).

I wonder if it has a heavy duty motor for the additional use?

Since they include the buttons on the top of the seat for full ahead and full back to easy access to the rear seats I would expect they fit heavier duty motors than they would in non-coupes.

Dumb question where do you go for coding? Is there a thread that summarizes all of the most common things people code on M2?
