Dinantronics Sport vs JB+
Hi.
I was wondering if i should pull the trigger with the Dinantronics Sport or the JB+ for my M240i stock. To consider: 1. Dinantronics has the app. 2. JB+ is $100 cheaper. 3. There have been issues with some DTSport units. Not a single fault with JB+ 4. DTSport uses 2 sensors, JB+ just 1. It would be great to hear comments of both tunes users... Thanks. |

You've already seen mine here, so I won't repeat them:
http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showp...6&postcount=80 I'm curious to hear others experiences with the devices.

Go with the JB+ ... Bluetooth is nice but not worth $100

get the JB+.
Save 100$, put that towards another part for the car. Once you get sick of it, get a flash tune and you can still use the JB+ as a boost controller stacked. Its not like BMS is some shitty company, its been tuning BMWs with n54/n55 just as long as Dinan with better results and loads cheaper.

For the record I never said bms was inferior. And $100 isn't exactly loads cheaper.
Get the Dinan Sport. Great product.

OP is inquiring specifically about the Sport version not the full Stage 1 tune.

For something more advanced like a jb4 or dinan stage anything, dinan is 3-4 times more expensive for equivalent results |

1 is $299 and the other $199. Both offer same boost increase @4psi. Yes the jb+ is $100 less...but with Dinan you get the app. the jb app is $30CAD (more features mind you).

There is no app for the jb+. And its not required. Turn it up, plug it in. your good to go. Go with whatever you want. I would personally get the jb+ and a catted DP for most HP for the price.

exactly, the app is useless.
You want lower boost, put it in comfort mode.

You can always contact Dinan via phone or email and ask them about it. Maybe there's been a firmware upgrade to the device since then.

+1 definitely call them. They are very helpful, at least Nathan who I ended up talking with. And emailing. And probably annoying after my 10,000th question.

Not sure if your local BMW dealer is also a Dinan dealership or not. If they are a Dinan dealership, I'd buy the sport unit through them and have them install it. Granted there is no matching warranty, but if you have an issue (CEL) or something "wonky" going on (unlikely), you have the dealer support to troubleshoot the issue / Dinan support through the dealership too.
Certainly, if you are on a budget and want to get by as inexpensively as possible, buy the JB4 and install it yourself. If on the other hand you want some dealership support and likely better communication with Dinan direct, then I'd go with a dealer installed Dinan sport. Hopefully you won't need it. Also if you go the dealer route, you won't feel the need to remove it every time you take the car in for service. Considering we are talking about a $50K automobile investment, a couple hundred$ one way or the other isn't a deal breaker IMO. |

the dinan dinantronics and jb4 are piggybacks with multiple connections, these are both going to be much more expensive than what the OP is asking about. The dinan will cost over 1000$ with jb4 being much less but deliver more power. If you decide to upgrade the dinan to another stage, expect to pay roughly 500 per stage, plus the hardware that corresponds. I think you confused the two of jb+/ jb4.

yes...my mistake, "Fat fingered" the "4".
I'm going w/ the Dinan Stage 1 for $1399. Dealer installed w/ a warranty coverage and dealer/Dinan support. For me personally, that made the most sense. I mentioned the dealer install w/ the sport to put some of their skin in the game rather than a straight DIY affair. My thought being, If you buy through them and pay to have them install it, they are likely to help if an issue occurs. My understanding is that when the dealership plugs the car in, they can now tell if there was a piggyback device on the car causing the issue. In that case, the dealership can wash their hands of the issue. If OP happens to get a CEL, he can run it back to the dealer where they have the tools to check codes (gratis) and get Dinan involved if necessary. But hey, we all have our ways to approach these things. Certainly enough people have gone the DIY route w/ both modules and haven't had any issues. I, on the other hand, seem to be in the 1% that tries a simple procedure (like installing a power module) and finds that the car won't start or immediately goes into limp mode. |
