Oil Leak Detected
Need help finding the source of this oil leak.
I showed the mechanic at the dealership, and they brushed it off as residual oil, but I recently checked again and saw fresh oil dripping. It's definitely something that should be fixed. Anyone know the source of this leak? I'm leaning towards a gasket manifold leak. Any thoughts about this issue would be helpful. |

Its a little hard to tell where this is.. Could you provide an explanation of where the oil leak is??.. Or some more pics a little further away.. Just not sure what part of the engine it is you are showing us..

Check the oil filter, known to leak from bad seals. I think there's a thread on here somewhere if I find it I will post it up.

its right where the engine block is (might not be correct area), more correctly it's where the downpipe bracket attaches to the engine.
You can see the downpipe bracket on the right side of the picture. Might be an oil filter leak. But from the looks of it its leaking right between where the two metal parts meet. |

I am guessing this is at the underside of the engine..?? I don't have mine up in the air to check and compare.. But it looks like there might be a bolt missing on the bracket that also goes into the casing.. I can see scuff marks on the bracket where a bolt may have been prior..?? It is possible that the lack of a bolt being there might be causing the leak..

There is indeed a bolt missing. Its a long torx bolt that connects the downpipe bracket to the casing, but the leak was there prior to the bolt missing.
I'm going to the dealership again and see if they can isolate the issue. Will update on what I find out. |
