AWE + catless downpipe with resonator or without resonator?
My car currently has the ER catless downpipe. I'm wondering if it will be too loud without the resonator. What do you guys think?

Don't get the midpipe if your catless. I repeat don't get the midpipe if your catless. I got it on my car and shit was so loud and droning. Hated it. Currently installed a vibrant ultraquiet resonator in my midpipe and removed the rifling noise and drone. I also have a small vibrant resonator after the downpipe to remove the annoying hollow sound. My car now sounds like a proper sports sedan. And, the exhaust sounds expensive. Before it sound cheap.

How is that setup? I will be getting my new 340 in a couple months but it has stock exhaust. I could go the downpipe route but wondering if just removing the resonators on stock exhaust would make it louder and get more burbles?

I have the ER catless downpipe, with stock exhaust and no resonator. Got plenty of burbles but the sound gets raspy when I floor the pedal. I'm wondering if AWE exhaust will make the sound deeper or not with this setup.

It will be beyond loud and unrefined. That awe axleback is a trumpet. It's basically a hollow straight pipe.

So one could keep the center Res and remove the Secondary. |

Currently mine is a straight pipe from front to back. Catless dp and oem exhaust sounds really nice. It's really quiet at idle but it's a beast once you slam the gas pedal. That said, it gets a little raspy at high rpm. That's why I'm looking into an aftermarket exhaust.

Catless with non-res is never a good idea

secondary cats make absolutely no difference with drone, its the resonator which causes the awful noise. this is why I think its best to have your secondaries replaces with straight pipe at a muffler shop (cheap, like $150) not only do get the added sound and performance of a secondary cat delete, but you get to keep your factory resonator as well.. only N52's, e9x (M or non M) and the f80 m3 have secondary cats. so for your f30 335/340 guys, its best to keep stock res like you said. |
