Rear center jack point for Tire rotation
Wondering if someone can confirm if jacking up the car from the point as shown in picture is bad/good idea... I jacked it up gently and didn't have an issue but would like some confirmation for future use as well. Yes I have searched but the none of the threads have an actual pic with the exact point, and no the BMW blocks are not for sale they were a limited production.. your input will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hard to tell by the pictures. Do you have the block under the rear subframe? I've always jacked the rear up by the differential. If you go that route, make sure to get it under the differential housing and not the cover.

That should be fine. Just be careful the blocks aren't pushing into the differential cover -I believe it's aluminum.
I think you're jacking up at the same point as this post: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1037834 I've always jacked the rear of my BMWs up by the differential and put jack stands underneath the side jack points. Never had an issue with this approach before. |

Why are you jacking up the rear? To rotate tires, would you not instead jack up one side at a time and swap the front and rear? Our tires are directional and can't be swapped between left and right. Correct me if I'm wrong.

My tires are not directional so what I did was jacked up the rear first, crossed the rear tires, lowered the car back down, then lifted up each side individually and swapped front to back on each side. However if you do have directional tires then you are right and only swap front to back on each side
