18 inch rims be upgraded to 19 or 20?

Just wondering if stock 18 rims can be upgraded down the road to 19 or 20. I went with 18 because of winter potholes in NY, but was thinking of getting another set for spring through fall. 18 have 245/45 tires.

I have a coworker who had 20 inch low profile tires on her MB, she was getting a flat tire every week in winter from potholes. Went to Mercedes and was told the tires couldn't be changed down to 18inch. This is why I want to make sure I can go up it I want.

Going up is no problem as long as you use the correct size wheels and tyres for the G30

On models with large brakes you cannot go smaller than a certain size.
For example M Performance brakes need a minimum 19" wheel

What Mercedes needs 20"
Maybe 18" was to small for it but she can go 19"

Thanks, she had an AMG E Class, I think they misinformed her. She traded it in for a boring e350 with 17 inch rims and hates it. On the plus size, she hasn't replaced a tire in 1 year. Crazy how many tires she went through, that is why I stuck to 18 inch rims on new G30. Pothole city in NY.

The M Performance brakes are even bigger than the M brakes. So they need 19" to clear.

You can see this on the German configurator aswell ( add M Brakes to a standard car and it automatically adds 18" wheels)

As per the above responces, the M Performance brakes that are a dealer fitted option are even larger than the M Sport brakes from the factory

They are quite huge
