Piped In Sound

Sorry guys, I can't remember the correct name for it but im sure you know what I am referring to.

So I have not yet gotten around to coding my F06. Today Shawn "The freakin man" Sheridan gave me the link to the latest Esys etc.

Flame me if you must but one of the things I fancied doing was changing the soundtrack to that of the M6.

I know some of you guys have tinkered and coded yours to the F80 soundtrack.

What I wanted to ask you chaps was:

How noticeable is it?
Did you stick with it or change it?
If so why did you change it and what did you change it to?

Thank you guys.

It's called active sound, and it doesn't work on my LCI 335d!

Only increased the volume or changed the soundtrack?

How noticeable is it?

If I wanted to get some extra sounds piped into my car to make me feel better I could think of lots of better ideas, like the moaning noise a whore makes when getting DPed etc

Car definitely has the ASD module, but it doesn't work and coding it makes no difference! Very strange as it works on pre LCI 335d's!

I was disappointed too, my LCI seems very quiet.

It it set to standard? I noticed in my 430i setting it to anything but standard (apart from the volume levels) basically turned it off. No M3/M4 ASD for me

Yes just standard. How do you adjust it's volume level?

Change the power class to one of these:

What we thought was correct and now I have the full list of volume settings for ASD coding -

Performance Classes

KL = Lowest level
UL = Lower level
ML = Middle level (this is what is set from factory)
OL = Upper Level
TL = Top Level
SL = Super Level

It did seem to take a few power cycles of the car for me to notice it was louder though, that may just be down to me not driving too often (mostly on the weekends)

Cool thanks I'll try this! Maybe LCI's are just set to a low volume level.

I had a look at coding my 420d to see what it sounded like, but I don't have the ASD module to code!

On my 435d I couldn't change the engine to M3/M4. In fact, all it would do was go on the N55 setting; anything else effectively turned it off as others have found.

I think mines set to M5 godliness (LCI 335d) - it has been a while since i did it mind. What it didn't like was setting the internal bongs to Rolls Royce, Mini, not problem, Rolls Royce nada

Hi Teaston, please let me know if this works
Just finally got my car linked using the E-Sys launcher (although have no idea where to go following this..) and one of the main codings I want to do is the sound

Just tried it, it was set to ML as standard, so I coded it to SL and took it for a quick drive, still no noticeable exhaust sound in sport mode I'm afraid.

It really does beg the question why did BMW bother fitting the ASD module to LCI's?! Maybe it coincides with the release of the Active Sound Exhaust system, so they code that and then the ASD module works? no idea what VO code the active exhaust has though.
