BMS stage 1

watsup guys so I recently bought a BMS stage 1 from extreme-power house last week (big shoutout to them and to mike for awesome service and a quick delivery). All I can say is that I absolutely love it! im really happy with it! the stage 1 gave me good bump in power (which i havent dyno'd yet) but the butt-dyno definitely approves, and its still calm and refined which i like since i daily the car

you don't need either with a stage 1.

CP is good for precautions, FMIC should be last on your list.
Go for a brake pad/line/ fluid upgrade, maybe an intake or catted dp.

I had the wagner catted and had no problems.

+1 on the Wagner downpipe, it is our most popular choice.

If you are getting a downpipe as well i recommend a 6" intercooler or a very high density 5" (Wagner, VRSF and Evolution Racewerks are all good choices).

I also recommend doing CP and intercooler at the same time to save money on labor.

Hey guys, admittedly novice to tuning. There was the other thread about JB4 being now detectable by dealer. Is that also the case for Stage 1, do you know?

If your tune is uninstalled, odds of getting caught are close to zero.

Dealership will not catch the tune unless they ask for help from Germany and that only happens if engine is damaged (i got my turbos replaced and dealership did not contact Germany).

Keep in mind that even when BMW Germany do their diagnostic, boost levels will still show as normal (because Jb and Jb4 trick the ECU into thinking its running stock boost)

When tuning a car you are always taking a risk with warranty. Risk is very low proven by tens of thousands of tuned cars but it still exists.

Thanks for the prompt response.

I understand the inherent risk, comfortable dealing with it.

I am worried that based on this thread http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1351975 they seem to be taking a more aggressive stance, making it easier for dealers to detect the mod and therefore creating problems for totally unrelated issues.

In that thread user made a mistake a fried his ECU because he did not follow the install guide. He kept his battery connect and short circuited the board.

Thats why Germany get involved.

I always ask my dealer or SA how they feel about the tune and if it is removed before service. It will give you a good idea how strict they are without actually doing the mod yet. Dealers buy me actually sell aftermarket tunes and I don't mean Dinan.

BMS Stage 1 Report

I did some quick testing with the BMS Stage 1 tune I got from Extreme Powerhouse this weekend. It did feel like I had a bit more go, mostly in the mid-range where I tend to drive. I don't dyno or time stuff so just looking for an overall more enjoyable driving experience.

Interesting though I was expecting my Torque app to show me higher boost but it actually showed lower boost at seemingly all times. I assume this is because the tune is telling the car it's making less boost than it actually is?

Any way to find out how much boost the engine is actually running?

Hello,
Thank you for your order.
You can always get the BMS data cable and datalog.
BMS stage 1 can monitor boost and tell you exactly how much the car is making
