Mark-ups "Removed" at one Los Angeles Dealership
To those of you looking for an M2 at MSRP, I just received a text from a woman named Larissa at Center BMW, located on Van Nuys Boulevard in the San Fernando valley (North Los Angeles). Her text stated that Center BMW just today "removed" the mark-ups on whatever M2's they have in stock. I have NOT checked personally to see what cars they have, nor have I checked to see what their actual prices are. I just thought I would pass the information along to my friends on this site who are looking to buy an M2 right now. As an aside, the last time I was in the dealership, they had two M2's in stock and both were loaded up with M Performance parts; one was white and the other was mineral gray. Happy Hunting!

I just talked to Larissa Mendoza at Center BMW. Her telephone number is (818) 687-0713. She said she has 3 M2's. All are DCT and all are loaded up with M Performance Parts. One is black, one is gray, and one is white. She told me the prices are roughly $64,000 for the white one, $65,000 for the black one, and $70,000 for the gray one. She said the prices were all straight MSRP and none were marked up. I personally vouch for nothing but I'd give her a call.

My hunch is that with the cars loaded up like they are PLUS a mark-up meant zero interest in these three cars; the dealership GM has probably asked the sales manager "Why are they still sitting here? Get rid of them!" You can probably sell M2's around here (Los Angeles) with no M performance parts at a mark-up, or cars with M performance parts at MSRP, but not cars fully loaded up with parts (we're talking like $10,000 in parts) AND a mark up.

Yeah, the M2 just isn't worth $65k. At that point I'm looking much more seriously at a Porsche. The M Performance Part$ are just margin for the dealerships.

Think the sweet spot for the general market is around $50k for a strong starter German performance car. Porsche Boxster, Mercedes CLA45, Audi S3 and now the M2. My M2 order would be a 6-speed, executive package and paint. And if the wait is long enough, may be European delivery that would put a small dent on the price. |

Like everyone has said, not marked up, but loaded with $10k+ of parts at full retail (with 50% markup). Found plenty of sources selling the stuff 25% off and you get to keep the stock parts. Basically a rip off in my view. Actually, I guess at $64k, it probably has $5k in parts. Sadly, as I look at my allocation coming through, these 2017's are in any auto dealers customary terms, nearly leftovers. The '18's are so close, these cars really need to sell at a discount. Unfortunately, that's not really possible, so we end up taking cars that are a model year old in 10 minutes and pay full price. Something to think about. |
