2010 335i Trunk Latch issue
Have been reading all the posts i can find, but nothing i have seen helps.
Checked wiring in boot on right side ( nothing cut ) Trunk opens from inside and key fob opens, but can not get the trunk to latch, i will be driving down the road and it pops up trunk is open. Tried extra weight on the closing the lid and it still does not work. can use a screw driver to manually operate latch but still not staying closed. HELP |

Thinking its the latch itself. It does not close when trying to close lid. only works when or closes when I use a screwdriver to manually close it
+ Update + Key fob will open trunk , lights work in trunk. trunk opening by License plate works also. Last edited by dirtypickle; 01-10-2017 at 06:02 PM.. |

I have this issue on my 2011 328i. In the cold, it makes extra noise when unlatching, like it cycles through the gears twice. It won't relatch again until I press the trunk button on the fob.
I brought it up with the SA but he said he'd have to see the issue as it happened. It was 18F the other morning so i took some video of the issue and sent it too him. No reply yet. |

This is a rather common problem in cold weather. Last winter was my 1st with the car and had it happen. I researched a lot and found it to be very common. Monday I forgot and as I pressed the button I remembered, sure enough no close. It was -4°f and once it got up to 19°f it latched just fine.

do you have comfort access? let the trunk be on a close position, can you place your hand and push up on the trunk handle between your trunk lights. Hope you will hear a click and try to close again.

But i will check tomorrow on trunk lid, i know it opens the latch when I manually lock it with a screwdriver. Just shutting the trunk lid , the latch stays open and will not close to latch at bottom of trunk / car bumper Has been cold lately 14, but today was 54 and not working, car stays in garage also |

update - I manually locked latch with screwdriver and placed my hand while pushng up on the trunk handle between the trunk lights.
It clicks and unlocks latch and turns lights on in trunk but still will not close. |
